The western anchor had been repaired only enough to move people and water. Its outer roads still doubled back through District Eight's leftover blocks, and the ground beneath them opened into old school service tunnels whenever the route markers changed.
Kendra turned the anchor's damage into a border. She stood in an empty bus bay with six Citadel fighters spread behind cover and watched the first bounty scout cross the painted line.
The scout wore no Directorate uniform, only a gray vest with Far Reach Recovery's badge sewn over the heart. He checked the glowing license on his wrist while three armored carriers waited behind him.
"There are three companies: Far Reach has transport rigs, White Pike has two licensed C-ranks, and Blackline brought the casualty team. They expect a short capture," Vasa said through Kendra's earpiece.
"They can expect whatever they paid for," Kendra replied.
