The faction round used an armory loading bay instead of a clean ring. Weapon racks stood behind locked mesh, a freight door marked the government side, and a low platform marked the Citadel side. The two captains had to take the central control plate to claim the escrow.
Jax entered carrying a plain shock baton and a small round shield. Neither piece had a sponsor mark. The government had given him good equipment, but nothing that would answer for him when he made a mistake.
"You took the captain position," Nox said, stopping near the platform line.
"I did," Jax replied, rolling the baton through his hand. "You can be angry about it after the match."
"I am not angry. I am checking whether you understand the bill."
Jax looked past him at the Citadel commanders. "If Rook keeps the armory, he uses it against everyone in this city. That is the bill."
