Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Stranger in the Night

I spun around, my eyes scanning the empty room. The whisper had been so close, so real, that I expected to see someone standing right behind me. But I was alone.

My heart racing, I tried to shake off the feeling of unease. It was just my imagination, I told myself. The stress of the past few months was getting to me.

But as I turned to walk away, I caught a glimpse of something out of the corner of my eye. A shadowy figure standing just beyond the edge of the living room.

My breath caught in my throat as I froze, my eyes fixed on the spot where I thought I'd seen the figure. But there was no one there.

I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself down. I was alone in the apartment, and I knew it. I had locked the doors and set the alarm before going to bed.

But the feeling of being watched lingered, and I couldn't shake the sense that something was off.

I decided to check the apartment, room by room, to make sure I was truly alone. As I moved through the darkened rooms, my senses were on high alert, my heart pounding in my chest.

Every creak of the floorboards, every groan of the old building, made me jump. I was starting to feel like I was losing my mind.

But then, I saw him. Standing in the doorway of my bedroom, his eyes fixed on me with an unnerving intensity.

"Ethan Blackwood," I whispered, my voice barely audible.

Or at least, I thought that's who it was. The figure was shrouded in shadows, and I couldn't make out his features. But something about him seemed familiar.

As I stood there, frozen in fear, the figure didn't move. He just kept staring at me, his eyes boring into my skin.

And then, just as suddenly as he appeared, he vanished.

I was left standing alone in the darkness, my heart racing and my mind reeling. What was going on? Who was this stranger, and what did he want from me?

I knew one thing for sure – I had to get out of there. I grabbed my phone and keys and fled the apartment, not stopping until I was safely outside in the bright sunlight.

But as I looked back at the building, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was being watched. And that the stranger in the night was still out there, waiting for me.
