Chapter 94: First Heartbreak
Toan Phuong heard the answer and felt like lightning had struck him straight through. He urgently asked again:
"Why not? We've already kissed! I'm 18 now!"
From below the classroom, murmurs grew louder:
"Oh my God, is Ly a trap girl?"
"Why did she reject him? If it were me, I'd already be having his babies."
"Exactly why it's not you."
Kieu Ly heard Toan Phuong's words and the whispers echoing through the room. Embarrassment overwhelmed her. She turned to Thuy Duong:
"Help me finish passing out the candy. I'm going back to class."
Then she rushed out of the room without looking back.
Toan Phuong stood frozen, eyes turned upward, trying to stop the tears from falling. He couldn't believe it. He had poured his heart into this. He had done everything he could, yet still, he couldn't win her over. It wasn't possible—he was sure he had already touched her heart. Or maybe... maybe he had fallen for a trap girl, someone who played with other people's feelings.
Thuy Duong, who had been watching the whole scene unfold, sighed. Her friend was hopeless. She picked up the bouquet from Toan Phuong and joked:
"If she doesn't want it, give it to me instead."
Toan Phuong, once full of confidence and bright hopes for the future, now looked like someone who had just fallen off a cliff. His eyes were red and swollen. He was hurt—deeply—but he didn't want Kieu Ly to be publicly shamed. He turned to the class with steady eyes and said:
"She's not a trap girl. I was the one who kissed her without permission. Sorry for the disturbance."
With that, he turned and left the room.
Yet, no one expected that this confession scene at Foreign Trade University would go viral all over social media, under headlines like:
"Prince Charming Gets Rejected"
"He's Great, But She's Sorry"
"The Only Heir of W Bank Turned Down in Public"
Seeing the viral video online, Thu Thảo messaged her husband:
"Honey, our son just got rejected at Foreign Trade."
Nguyen Toan Phong was in a meeting when he saw the message. He stood up and calmly told his team:
"Please continue without me. Hải, take over leading the meeting."
Then he stepped into a private phone booth and pulled up the video. After watching it, he sent a string of laughing emojis to his wife:
"Well, serves him right. Good for that little rascal to finally learn that life isn't always a bed of roses."
On the other end, Thu Thảo responded with her own barrage of laughing emojis.
