Kailey walked through the ivy- wrapped walls of Vermont High, the sunshine hitting the polished badge on her uniform. Whispers trailed behind her like perfume–new girl, pretty, alone.
No one knew her name yet, and the fact that she's a Reynold. And that's exactly how she wanted it.
Her siblings Vanessa and kelvin where here but she'd sworn she wouldn't ride on her siblings fame. This was her chance to be someone new. Someone on her own.
She walked very fast ignoring the whispers and compliments from the people around.
Geez! What the hell is wrong with the people here can't they just ignore without trying to kill me with their eyes.
I got to chemistry class which was almost over with only five minutes remaining.
I just got here and I'm already having a terrible first day absolutely great.
I walked inside the class without being noticed by the teacher or maybe he pretended not to see me but whatever I can't possibly be scolded at on my first day here. The class came to an end and he left. I felt a burning gaze at the back of my neck and turned around only to find everyone starring at me like I committed a crime.
I instantly got up and was about to leave when a hand pulled me back.
"You're the new girl huh?" she said with a mocking gaze. I glanced at her from head to toe and one look you'll definitely know she's the school's belle
"And you are the school's belle right" I replied not giving any room for me to be bullied.
"Wow she talks" Brielle said with disdain
Kailey"..." I laughed really hard "sorry to burst you bubble but should I be dumb. Just because you are doesn't mean others are, now if you'll excuse me I gotta go" I said and left the class.
Kailey what is your problem?
I didn't know where my boldness came from but one thing I know is that I just hit the wrong button. One look and anyone would tell that girl is not to be trifled with, well I'm not to be toyed with either and I can't possibly get bullied on my first day here. Never!.
I walked to the cafeteria and the cafeteria door opened up for me. My legs were glued to the ground I don't know why but I couldn't move I was just so stiff. I felt very nervous I've never been this nervous all my life. Summoning an unknown courage I walked inside the cafeteria and sat at an empty table. A girl with brown hair walked up to her with eyes glistening like the sun, she looked cute.
"Hey! can I sit with you" she said I look d at her for a while before nodding "I'm Samantha Gray. So you are the new girl everyone's been talking about, aone look and I can tell you look like trouble. I like it"
I stared at her and smiled "Do I really look like trouble?"
"Yes! I know you are not someone to be trifled with. Because it's only someone who spells trouble would get on the bad side of Brielle"
"Oh! So that's her name" Sam looked at me like I was crazy and I smirked at her at least someone knows I'm not to be trifled with "I'm Kailey" I said snapping her out from her daze
"Just Kailey?"
"Hmm nah but–" I can't possibly tell her my surname
"Nevermind I like you already so can we be friends? pretty please I haven't seen anyone who piqued my interest like you so please say yes" She pouted and I could I possibly say no to those cute puppy dog eyes it was very hard to resist so I only nodded and she shrieked in excitement "Thank you bestie. From now on we are going to be best friend's forever" I was at a complete loss at her words but I wasn't angry infact I already like her and I knew she'd be trustworthy so I didn't decline.
"So are you going to get your food now?" She asked and I nodded. We got up and walked to the stand to get our food
Just grab the food. Don't make eye contact. You're a ghost. Blend in. That's the plan .
Just as she turned around with her tray someone barreled pass. They collide. Her drink spills and a sharp gasps escape from her.
Gavriel who caught the tray halfway snapped "Watch it"
"Maybe say excuse me next time?" she snarled
Gavriel steps backward eyes cold and burning with hunger "Maybe don't walk like you own the place."
They stare each other down – tension crackling. Other students glance over. Kailey's heartbeat spikes. Not fear–something else.
Kailey scoffed hard brushing the juice if her uniform "Guess manners aren't a rich boy thing."
Gavriel pauses for a while eyes flickering –like she hit a nerve.
"You'll learn fast. This school's not for everyone."
He walks off. She watches him go, scowling. A few people whisper. Then–
"Okay, that was iconic. Who are you?" I just rolled my eye and went straight to my table and sat down. "You just went toe-to-toe with Gavriel Deveraux... and didn't even flinch? Who even are you?"
"Just a random girl I guess. And besides someone needs to teach that rich ass a lesson he'd never forget" I scowled
"No way I'm not supporting that, That's Gavriel Deveraux the son of the most richest man here in America. You've heard of the Deveraux before right?" I nodded "good they are the most prominent family here in America and beyond they are not to be messed with".
" You said it your self I'm not to be trifled with"
" I know but that's different do you want to go against an entire family of Deveraux"
No wonder! He's such a rude ass. So what if his family ain't to be messed with, my family isn't to be toyed with too.
"You are in a whole new level girl. You just got here and you've already made to enemies. You're on fire. Please teach me you way old wise one." I looked at Sam and smiled she's going to be a good friend. "I don't want you to get hurt,I can't let my bestie get her self into trouble. Just forget about them and don't worry about your food, you can share mine."
