Chapter 120 - FTRJ: Chapter 120

"Oh, and just as there's a Jellal in this world, there's likely a Fairy Tail in that world, and maybe even someone just like you. Be aware of that."

Mystogan suddenly spoke, a new thought apparently occurring to him.

"Oh? A parallel world?" Finn's eyes lit up with interest.

"Huh? What did you say?" Mystogan looked at Finn, confused by his murmur.

Finn shook his head. "Nothing, just get me there!"

Mystogan didn't understand the concept of parallel universes, and Finn didn't bother explaining. He wasn't even sure if Edolas was a parallel Earthland.

He'd find out soon enough.

Finn's expression turned serious.

"Mystogan," he said, his voice low. "Lisanna's probably in that world, too."

Mystogan paused, then said, "That's what I was about to mention. I've been investigating, and the chances of Lisanna being alive are now over 90%."

"She's very likely in Edolas. So, besides rescuing everyone else, you have another mission: bring Lisanna home."

Finn smiled. "Of course. That kid's been away long enough. It's time she came home!"

Finn's body began to glow, then started floating uncontrollably. He looked down at his hands.

"I'm using a special magic to let Anima pull you to Edolas. Don't resist; with your strength, you'd break free from 'Soul.' Just let the pull take you," Mystogan explained.

As Mystogan said, Finn felt the pull from the still-open wormhole created by Anima.

The pull accelerated, and Finn vanished into the wormhole.

"Please, Finn!" Mystogan whispered, watching Finn disappear.

Finn found himself in a corridor-like space, with lightning flashing around him. In the distance, a blinding light shone.

Finn moved quickly, passing through the white light in the blink of an eye.

The intense light forced Finn to close his eyes.

The next moment, his body felt weightless, and he slowly opened his eyes.

This was a world vastly different from Earthland.

Earthland was the world Finn knew; Mystogan had given it that name for convenience.

Countless floating islands dotted the sky, enormous flowers bloomed, and ribbon-like rivers flowed through the air, with fish visible within their translucent depths.

The scenery was utterly unlike anything he'd ever seen.

"But… where the hell am I?!"

Finn sat on a giant flower, his voice filled with despair.

His plan had been to find someone and ask for directions to the capital, then head straight there.

Instead, he'd landed in a completely barren wasteland.

There wasn't a soul in sight; finding even one person who could speak would be a challenge.

Finn walked alone through an incredibly dense forest, the scene eerily reminiscent of the giant forest he'd traversed during his initial arrival in this world.

"I'm not going to get stuck in another forest for months, am I?" After walking for hours without encountering a single human, a terrifying thought occurred to Finn.

"If that happens, forget about saving anyone; it'll all be too late by then…"

After another hour, as Finn contemplated setting the entire forest ablaze, a tremendous roar shattered the silence.

Finn instantly became alert, his gaze fixed on the direction from which the sound had originated.

A cloud of dust was rising in the distance, suggesting that some enormous creature was stirring.

And it was rapidly approaching his position.

A smile spread across Finn's face. "Good! Some action! Movement means I might actually be able to escape this forsaken place!"

Before long, the ground began to tremble beneath his feet.

Finn focused his gaze, only to be met with a sight that left him momentarily speechless.

A chase was unfolding before him, and what caught Finn's attention was the creature being pursued.

It possessed brilliant golden fur, fluffy ears, and a pair of pristine white wings sprouting from its back.

However, the cat's wings were stained with flecks of blood, and its ability to flap its wings seemed to be significantly impaired, resulting in an unusually low and erratic flight pattern.

"A cat just like Happy and Carla?" The thought crossed Finn's mind.

Upon seeing Finn, the cat seemed to regard him as a savior, crying out, "Human! Quickly, save me! I am a Exceeds!"

Finn frowned at the cat's almost imperious tone. Nevertheless, since the cat could speak, there was a chance it could help him navigate his way out of this desolate location.

The creature pursuing the cat was a colossal gorilla with deep green fur, its movements swift and powerful as it relentlessly smashed its way through the surrounding trees.

The gorilla bore a striking resemblance to the Valkens found in Earthland, although subtle differences in its physical characteristics were apparent. However, in Finn's estimation, these differences were inconsequential; they were both simply low-level monsters.

As Finn remained motionless, a wave of despair washed over the cat. Its injuries were severe, and its vision was beginning to blur due to blood loss.

After managing to fly only a short distance, the cat collapsed in front of Finn, its wings dissolving into shimmering particles of light. The cat landed weakly on the ground.

"You human! Since you can't save me, and you're not even trying to escape on your own, what are you just standing there for? Great, now we're both stuck…" the golden cat complained, its voice laced with frustration.

Finn ignored the golden cat's complaints, for the green gorilla had already reached his position, its crimson eyes fixated on Finn with a disturbing hint of excitement.

"Food! Oooooh!" it roared, its guttural cry echoing through the forest.

The gorilla opened its massive maw, revealing a terrifying array of razor-sharp teeth that seemed to gleam menacingly in the dim light. A stream of saliva dripped uncontrollably from its mouth onto the forest floor.

The saliva appeared to possess corrosive properties, as the plants and flowers it came into contact with instantly withered and disintegrated.

Witnessing this scene, the golden cat's despair deepened. This human appeared to be an ordinary human being, and not only had he failed to rescue her, but he had now inadvertently placed himself in mortal danger. Gritting her teeth, the golden cat made a resolute decision.

With a surge of adrenaline, she struggled to her feet. "Human," she declared, her voice strained but firm, "I'll try to distract it. You run!" She picked up a stone from the ground and hurled it at the green gorilla.

With a defiant grimace, she attempted to flee, but Finn swiftly intervened.

"Don't run," Finn said, his voice calm yet resolute. "Just stay here and wait. I have some questions for you." Having spoken, he turned and walked towards the green gorilla.

"Hey, you idiot! Are you trying to get yourself killed?!" the golden cat shouted, her voice filled with alarm.

However, Finn ignored the cat's frantic warnings and continued to walk towards the approaching gorilla.

Upon seeing its intended prey brazenly approaching it, a human-like grin spread across the gorilla's grotesque face.

With a ferocious roar, the gorilla unleashed a devastating punch aimed directly at Finn.

"Hadō #4. Byakurai!"

BOOM—

A deafening clap of thunder reverberated through the forest, sending a shockwave that stirred up a massive cloud of dust.

The golden cat instinctively covered her ears, the blinding flash of white light momentarily obscuring her vision.

After a brief moment, the dust settled, revealing Finn standing unharmed in the center of the clearing. The green gorilla, which had moments before threatened to end Finn's life, now lay sprawled on the ground, its body charred black.

The surrounding trees were ablaze, the aftermath of the powerful lightning strike.

The golden cat's eyes widened in astonishment at the scene before her.

"You…" she stammered, her voice filled with disbelief.

Despite having spent her entire life growing up in this forest, the golden cat had also secretly ventured into the human world on several occasions, giving her a reasonable understanding of human capabilities.

She knew that humans required magical tools, or artifacts, to unleash magic; and from her observations, it was abundantly clear that this human possessed no such tools.

This was precisely why the golden cat had concluded that their situation was hopeless.

… …

However, the scene before her defied all of her preconceived notions.

Having dispatched the green gorilla with a single, devastating attack, Finn turned and slowly walked towards the golden cat.

A broad smile spread across Finn's face, his joy palpable as he anticipated his imminent escape from the confines of the forest.

To the golden cat, however, this smile seemed eerily similar to the predatory grin of the green gorilla that had moments before sought to devour her.

"W-what are you going to do?" the golden cat stammered, taking a couple of hesitant steps backward, her eyes filled with apprehension.

"Let me warn you," she continued, her voice trembling slightly, "I am a Exceeds! You cannot harm me!"

Finn paused, his smile faltering slightly. Then, a reassuring smile returned to his lips. "Don't worry," he said calmly, "I simply want to know how to get out of this forest. You must know the way, right?"

"Leave this forest? Are you lost?" the golden cat asked, her voice laced with suspicion, maintaining a cautious distance from Finn.

"You could say that," Finn replied, nodding his head in agreement.

The golden cat fixed her gaze intently on Finn's eyes, attempting to discern whether he was being truthful.

After scrutinizing Finn's expression for a considerable amount of time, she remained unconvinced, for Finn's words were indeed truthful.

With a sigh of resignation, the golden cat finally spoke. "Considering you saved my life, I suppose I could guide you out of here."

Finn's lips curved into a genuine smile. "I would be most grateful for your assistance."

The golden cat struggled to her feet, but the pain from her wounds seemed to intensify, causing her to wince and grimace.

"Your wounds have started bleeding again. Allow me to tend to them," Finn offered gently.

"Th-thank you," the golden cat replied, after a moment's hesitation, accepting Finn's offer.

Before long, the golden cat's wounds were carefully bandaged. Due to the lack of suitable materials in the immediate vicinity, Finn was forced to improvise, tearing a strip of fabric from his own shirt.

After sterilizing the fabric by boiling it over a makeshift fire, he proceeded to carefully bandage the cat's wounds.
