Chapter 25: Festival Lights and Flickering Hearts
Morning – The Festival Buzz
The school festival was the final hurrah, the last big party before everyone scattered.
Bright banners hung across the courtyard. The smell of fried food mixed with laughter and music. Booths lined the walkways—ring toss, karaoke, and even a tiny Ferris wheel.
The group arrived together, a little louder, a little closer than usual.
Aria pulled Ethan to a karaoke booth, daring him to sing.
"Only if you join me," he laughed.
---
Lana and Noah's Tent
Lana and Noah found themselves manning the photo booth, awkwardly shuffling props and trying not to stare at each other too much.
"Here," Noah said, handing her a goofy pair of glasses.
She slipped them on, catching his eyes in the mirror.
For a moment, they forgot the crowd, the noise, the future.
"Maybe this isn't so scary after all," Noah said.
Lana smiled. "Yeah... maybe it's just the beginning."
---
Midday – Crazy Adventures
Aiden dared Ethan to try the Ferris wheel — a huge leap for the music lover who was terrified of heights.
Halfway up, Ethan panicked and accidentally flung a stuffed bear at Lana, who shrieked and ducked.
Aria burst out laughing, clutching her stomach.
"Noah, catch!" she shouted, tossing him a soft, glittery hat from the prize booth.
Noah caught it, bowing dramatically, making Lana laugh for the first time all day.
---
Evening – The Last Dance
The festival closed with music and dancing under fairy lights.
Aria pulled Aiden onto the floor, spinning and laughing.
Ethan sang softly into his guitar, the notes drifting like a gentle promise.
Noah finally took Lana's hand.
"I don't want this to be goodbye," he said quietly.
"Me neither."
They danced slowly, hearts syncing in a rhythm only they could hear.
---
Afterwards – Bittersweet Goodbyes
As the night wound down, the group gathered one last time by the school gates.
"We made it," Aria whispered.
"We're not just friends," Aiden added, "We're family."
They hugged, holding on tight to the memories, the laughter, and the love.
And even though tomorrow would bring change, tonight they were infinite.
