Chapter 15 - Into the Fire

Oscorp Tower's upper floors were a labyrinth of steel and glass, a fortress of power in Earth-731's 2030 dystopia. Peter Parker, Mad Spider, swung through its corridors, Gwen Stacy webbed to his side, their Neon Shadows allies dwindling under Blackweb's onslaught. His blood-red costume was shredded, his spider-powers stretched thin, the pain from electroshock torture a burning pulse that fueled his Joker-like madness. He laughed, a wild, unhinged sound, as he webbed a drone to a wall. "They're throwing the kitchen sink!" he quipped, his Deadpool-like humor masking fear. Gwen's tablet sparked, her hack nearly complete to broadcast Oscorp's neural implant plans. "We're close," she said, her voice strained but fierce. "Don't lose it now, Peter."

Flashback: At 16, Peter endured the worst shocks, his screams echoing as scientists laughed. Gwen, a hidden technician, slipped him water, her touch a secret lifeline. That touch drove her now, her love unwavering.

The tower assault was a bloodbath. Razor and Cipher fought below, their EMPs and hacks slowing Blackweb, but operatives cut through the Shadows, their shock-batons relentless. Peter's regeneration healed wounds, but his pain slowed him, each jolt a reminder of the lab. Flashback: At 19, Norman watched Peter's torture, his voice cold: "You're my creation." Now, Peter's rage fueled his fight, his webbing and strength a chaotic storm. "Your creation's got a refund policy!" he roared, slamming an operative through a console.

Gwen reached the main server, her hack exposing Oscorp's full plan—implants to enslave millions, with Peter as the prototype. "It's live," she whispered, the city's screens blazing with truth. But Norman's trap sprang—a holo-screen flickered, his face smirking. "You're too late," he said, activating a self-destruct sequence. Alarms blared, the tower shaking. Blackweb operatives swarmed, targeting Gwen. Peter's madness erupted, his violence unchecked as he tore through them, his laughter chilling. "Nobody touches her!" he screamed, his spider-senses dodging batons.

Cipher fell, a laser burning her chest, her last words urging Gwen to finish the hack. Razor dragged her body, his face grim. "We're losing," he said. Gwen's fingers flew, broadcasting the data, her heart breaking for their losses. Peter swung her to a higher floor, his pain overwhelming. Their ritual began, her touch a desperate anchor, their bond obsessive. "You're still you," she whispered, tears falling. Peter's laughter softened, raw. "Only because of you."

The tower trembled, explosions below. Peter fought to clear a path, his regeneration pushed to its limit. Blackweb's elite unit—cyber-enhanced operatives—blocked their way, their shock-batons mimicking the lab's torture. Peter's mind fractured, the pain and madness blurring. Gwen's voice pulled him back: "We end this, together!" They reached Norman's office, the heart of Oscorp, as the self-destruct countdown ticked down.

Cliffhanger: Mad Spider and Gwen face Norman's door, the tower crumbling. "Time for the final act," Peter laughs, his madness raging, as the countdown hits ten minutes.
