Chapter 3 - Chapter III

✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿

It was as if a switch had been flipped; the room temperature suddenly rose. Fu Ming Ye effortlessly lifted Qi Bai Cha horizontally. Qi Bai Cha wrapped his arms around his neck, burying his face in his chest, his long eyelashes veiling the glimmer in his eyes.

This was far from their first time. The initial experience had been tense, even comical, and ultimately unsuccessful.

Qi Bai Cha and Fu Ming Ye had dated for two years and been married for one. In their days of courtship, passions ran high, and sparks inevitably flew. The most intense time was a rainy night when they had not yet moved in together. They had spent an entire day at an amusement park, and Fu Ming Ye drove Qi Bai Cha home, escorting him all the way to his apartment.

The rain was pouring, its ceaseless sound echoing their restless hearts. After dropping Qi Bai Cha off, Fu Ming Ye was about to leave when his sleeve was unexpectedly tugged.

He turned around and saw the slender, handsome young man's lips quivering. The soft voice managed to pierce through the rain, "The rain is so heavy...stay."

Everything spiraled from there.

They both understood the implications. Fu Ming Ye had a raincoat, an umbrella, and even divine power; he wouldn't get a drop of rain on him.

But the downpour provided an excuse.

Faced with the young man's ambiguous signal, the rain gave him a perfectly reasonable excuse to stay.

Fu Ming Ye could have declined, but he chose to re-enter, pinning the young man against the door and kissing him.

The rest was, as they say, history. They tumbled from the living room to the bedroom, wrapped in a frantic disarray of clothes and kisses. Fu Ming Ye remembered human bodies were fragile and asked if Qi Bai Cha could handle it. He hesitated, then breathlessly replied, "I prepared in advance."

Qi Bai Cha was talking nonsense. As a god, he didn't eat grain and didn't need any bodily preparations. But that was all he could say at the moment, making it appear as though he'd been prepared all along.

Hearing the reply, Fu Ming Ye's eyes darkened momentarily.

He chuckled softly, "I'm starting to suspect you even orchestrated this rain, Mr. Qi."

Qi Bai Cha thought with closed eyes, I'm not responsible for the rain.

What pulsates within the chest? A heart that skips a beat in excitement? The Snow Deity's heart is crystal clear, aloof, and tranquil—unchanging for millennia.

Now, even this heart is beyond his control.

His invitation to stay was born out of a fleeting impulse, an emotion he couldn't contain, yet he harbored no regrets. This unfamiliar feeling of being out of control unnerved him. Qi Bai Cha thought, "I need to regain some sense of agency."

How could he fall for a mortal, one who was not even as old as he was in terms of years?

So, he put on the guise of a seasoned player in the game of love: "I've checked the weather forecast and specifically chose today for our date."

"Mr. Fu, indeed, I had premeditated plans."

Fu Ming Ye narrowed his eyes, "Is that so?"

"Yes."

"But Mr. Qi," Fu Ming Ye teased, "your face is flushed, you can't even look me in the eye, and I can hear your heart racing."

Qi Bai Cha paused, then looked away, "It's my first time planning something like this, so I'm a bit nervous."

"Relax." Fu Ming Ye planted a gentle kiss on his heart, "I accept your scheming."

Up to this point, everything had followed the arc of a typical romantic drama.

What happened next turned the romance into a comedy.

At a crucial moment, just shy of a complete union, both suddenly came to their senses. They stopped in unison and sat on the bed, speechless.

After a long pause, Qi Bai Cha finally blurted out, "I have hemorrhoids."

Fu Ming Ye chimed in simultaneously, "I have erectile dysfunction."

Qi Bai Cha: "…"

Fu Ming Ye: "…"

The atmosphere was exceedingly awkward for a moment.

At the last second, they both remembered that mortal bodies could not withstand the union with a divine being. To avoid injuring the other, they had to seal away most of their divine powers, ensuring their loved ones remained unharmed.

What an oversight.

After that initial fiasco, neither broached the subject of intimacy again.

As a god of nature, inherently powerful, Qi Bai Cha took a considerable amount of time to seal his powers to one ten-thousandth of their original strength, only daring to attempt intimacy with Fu Ming Ye on their wedding night.

The outcome was beyond imagination.

That night, Qi Bai Cha bashfully told Fu Ming Ye that his hemorrhoids had healed, and Fu Ming Ye happily responded that his erectile dysfunction had also been cured.

Then…Qi Bai Cha was so tormented that he wished he actually had developed hemorrhoids.

It's so painful, how could it hurt this much?

How could Fu Ming Ye be this inept?

What puzzles Qi Bai Cha even more is that he is divine. Even if his powers are reduced to a mere fraction, even if this youthful appearance isn't his true form, his physical resilience far surpasses that of mortals.

It would be a miracle if he didn't hurt Fu Ming Ye; surprisingly, Fu Ming Ye could even cause him pain.

Unbelievable.

In fact, Fu Ming Ye was also deeply alarmed to see Qi Bai Cha's pale face.

He had already sealed his power to one ten-thousandth, fearing he might harm his fragile young spouse. Yet, Qi Bai Cha still appeared to be in so much pain.

Seeing the usually gentle and resilient young man wincing and biting his lip in pain on the bed, Fu Ming Ye's heart ached with self-reproach, fearing he had caused Qi Bai Cha harm.

He incessantly inquired about Qi Bai Cha's discomfort, urging him to speak if he felt unwell.

After recovering a bit, Qi Bai Cha hurled a pillow at Fu Ming Ye, snapping, "Perfect your skills before you touch me again!"

Fu Ming Ye paused, instinctively replying, "But you're the only one I could practice with, right?"

In all honesty, although the Dark God had lived for countless years, he remained a lifelong singleton due to his discerning tastes. He disdained gods for their sanctimoniousness, humans for their tarnished souls, and demons for their grotesqueness. In short, no one was up to his standards.

Yet, after countless eons, the proverbial iron tree bloomed— he fell in love with a pure soul and surrendered himself, body and soul.

Naturally, his skills were far from refined.

Hearing this, Qi Bai Cha grew even more irate.

Fu Ming Ye would never forget that icy glare. He thought that, for a moment, his young spouse might have even contemplated spousal homicide.

Fortunately, the ancient Snow God, worldly as he was, wouldn't hold a grudge over something so trivial. One day he was furious and ignoring Fu Ming Ye, and the next, he was back in his arms, tenderly affectionate.

There was no choice, for the lifespan of a loved one was too fleeting to waste on anger, Qi Bai Cha thought morosely as he embraced Fu Ming Ye.

He would cherish every day spent with Mr. Fu.

At that moment, Fu Ming Ye felt overwhelmingly cherished, harboring even more affection for the spouse in his arms.

Qi Bai Cha had such a wonderful disposition; he was truly a little angel.

He must treat Qi Bai Cha well.

Resolute, the Dark God redoubled his efforts. He painstakingly learned, studied countless materials, and eventually evolved from a novice to an expert, living a harmonious and happy married life with his mortal spouse.

Tonight, they would surely have another wonderful evening.

Fu Ming Ye carried his love into the bedroom. His coat and tie were discarded in the living room, leaving him in a thin shirt, which was also quickly removed to reveal a physique with smooth musculature and attractive contours.

"Looks slim in clothes, but surprisingly fit when undressed" might just be the best way to describe Fu Ming Ye.

He stands tall at 1.89 meters, and his skin is not the popular honey or wheat hue often associated with handsome men, but rather a porcelain whiteness. Be it his slightly upturned phoenix eyes or his naturally curving, thin lips, his features lean more toward ethereal beauty than rugged handsomeness.

A beauty tinged with a sense of wicked allure.

As gods are naturally cultivated, both male and female divine beings tend to be stunning beauties, except for the few eccentrics with unique aesthetic preferences.

Originally born from the chaos as a shapeless form of turbid air, he materialized due to the selfish desires of all creatures. After the appearance of humans, he transformed into a deity through their sinful thoughts. In terms of divinity, he is quite young, but considering his age in cosmic terms, he's older than any natural deity, delayed only by a prolonged gestation period.

A Dark God is not an evil god, but rather one who listens to the wicked thoughts of mortals. Good and bad thoughts are but a thought away. While selflessness and blessings for all signify goodness, selfishness and insatiable greed signify wickedness. Since all creatures possess desires, and even immortals cannot claim complete purity, Fu Ming Ye doesn't mind engaging in mutually beneficial exchanges with living beings.

The role of a Dark God is just another job among deities. However, due to the nature of their duties, being exposed to negative energies daily, they tend to have more unorthodox and cynical personalities.

He is independent and unconventional, a deity who doesn't mingle with the mainstream gods, making him the most unbound among them.

He is profoundly powerful, with both the living and the inanimate as his followers, making him the most potent deity for granting wishes.

Of course, these grandiose titles now pale in comparison to being Qi Bai Cha's husband, Qi Bai Cha's lover, and Qi Bai Cha's devoted admirer.

Fu Ming Ye kisses Qi Bai Cha's fingertips, his gaze lingering on the young man's slender, snow-white waist.

His Qi Bai Cha is simply too beautiful to be of this world.

As the true Snow God, no one has the right to claim fairness and beauty in Qi Bai Cha's presence.

Qi Bai Cha can feel the tremble at his fingertips. He loves this man, thus every kiss bestowed upon him elicits the most sincere reaction.

He murmurs softly, whispering, "Ming Ye."

The atmosphere within the room instantly ignites.

Fu Ming Ye interlocks their fingers, kissing every inch of him.

They embrace, kiss, and touch each other, their eyes meeting, their temples rubbing against each other, like any pair of lovers in the mortal world.

Indeed, they are a match unparalleled in divine coupling, arousing the envy of all.

Just as Fu Ming Ye was about to savor the main course of the evening, having tasted the delicious appetizer, a sudden ring from a mobile phone disrupts the heated atmosphere.

Both pause in unison, their senses cooling down rapidly.

Fu Ming Ye says, "It's your phone."

Though irked by the interruption, Fu Ming Ye always respects Qi Bai Cha's personal space to manage his own affairs and refrains from using his divine powers to invade his lover's privacy.

While Fu Ming Ye may have no prior experience in love besides Qi Bai Cha, he has heard countless prayers about romantic troubles. Some lament unrequited love; others regret not cherishing the love they once had, now irretrievable.

Relationship troubles are normal. But as a Dark God, he listens to wicked thoughts, not the naive queries of young lovers. Instead, he hears things like, "How do I make him never leave me? Can I kidnap him, break his legs, and keep him with me forever?" or "Dear God, please make her official boyfriend die so I can have her," or "Is there a way to delay our divorce? I haven't finished transferring our joint assets."

The human heart is indeed an interesting thing, yet after seeing so much, it becomes quite mundane. These kinds of petitions are ones he would never entertain.

It's not for the sake of justice, but rather indifference. Satisfying these sordid souls doesn't offer him much divine power; these wretches simply can't afford to pay a price worth his attention.

Gods love humanity. This is a natural law imbued in most deities.

Divinity is even more ingrained than humanity, hard to change. The laws of nature have endowed the Snow God with gentleness, purity, clarity, and a love for all beings. Qi Bai Cha is such a deity.

But the Dark God despises humanity.

Willful, unorthodox, cynical, and loathing of all things—these are the innate qualities given to the Dark God by natural law.

Having listened to petty and dark thoughts for countless millennia, the Dark God considers himself rather gracious for merely being weary of the world rather than bent on its destruction. The laws of nature should grant him an award for "Most Resilient Spirit."

However, since meeting Qi Bai Cha, the world has also become a gentler and more lovable place. The noble Dark God deems it acceptable to stay in this mundane world for the sake of Qi Bai Cha, even if it means interacting with these foolish mortals.

To get back to the point, after hearing so many romantic woes, Fu Ming Ye has gleaned some experience. To love someone is to want to possess them, to have them by your side at all times. But to love someone for an extended period requires respecting them and providing ample space for each other.

So, being interrupted at a crucial moment...he. is. not. mad. at. all.

"Here."

Fu Ming Ye, having composed a long internal monologue to quell his irritation, graciously hands the phone on the bedside table to Qi Bai Cha with just a single word.

Qi Bai Cha picks up the phone. The caller ID displays "Zhuang Jing Yi's parent."

Zhuang Jing Yi is the female student he met earlier today in the cake shop, the first one to greet him.

If a student's parent is calling at this hour, something must have happened.

As Qi Bai Cha picks up the call and is about to say "Hello," an anxious voice of a woman comes through: "Mr. Qi, this is Jing Yi's mother. She hasn't come home yet. Do you know where she might be?"
