A flicker of a soothing, and serene light started forming from the wound. Borderline miracle at work. The drain on Shurry's magic was like nothing he'd ever felt before, he winced, but continued pushing, pushing against the sealed might of a god. And slowly, yet surely the wound began to heal.
Hephaestus' back arced ever so slightly, almost like she was helping to further limit the flow of arcanum to the injured area. That, and, Shurry's light had a few side effects under prolonged use.
Tsubaki, being the ever vigilant, yet also significantly ill-informed about Shurry's limits when it comes to magic, offered a magic potion. "Will this help?"
"No? I've still got about 60% of my mind left. There's no need for that thing yet, it would just go to waste." Shurry shook his head. "Though a nice slab of raw meat…" A small drip of drool could be seen from the corner of his mouth.
"Raw?"
"Yes, that's the full flavor of the meat. Cooking is good too, but… People seem to just throw out all of the good stuff when they cook it." …
It was about 15 minutes before the treatment had been completed. Hathor walked up with a smile. "Now that's the face I remember. So glad to see you're all better now."
"You jest-"
Hathor raised a mirror, and Hephaestus closed her eyes. Shurry, wasn't having it, not after using all of that effort. "Look in the mirror already!"
Hephaestus quivered, slowly opening her right eye, and she could see everything. Her office, her familia captain, Hathor, and even the super sweaty boy who just ended an incomprehensibly long period of time with only half of her vision.
"I- I- I- can see out of my eye, and it's all gone." Hephaestus expressed a joy she'd never had prior to this. "Child of Hathor, you have no idea how much this means to me… What do you want for a reward?"
Shurry put the job request in front of her. "It said here you'd give us a bunch of money, I wanted to use the money to buy some food. Since I can't go into the dungeon right now."
"Huh? Why can't you go into the dungeon?"
Shurry stood up and proudly declared. "I have to protect Mommy!"
Stunned, Hephaestus's mind returned to the moment several years ago when the young Shurry crashed Denatus to nestle in with Hathor. She blushed slightly, giggled, and then went to a full on laugh, tearing up as she did, even going as far as to hold her sides from laughing so hard.
"Oh, wow, you're a good child. Hathor is lucky to have such a wonderful child. Very well, the reward will be handed over to you in installments. And I'll add in some personally hand crafted equipment."
Shurry's ears flipped, and then one dropped to the side. "Huh? It's just a million, right? It says it right there?" He pointed at the request, confused.
"Pfft, this is the first paper it was posted on, I've long since increased the reward. Try 3 billion."
Shurry started counting on his fingers, a smile growing larger, his tail wagging faster, he jumped into Hathor's arms, despite the fact he was starting to get too big for that kind of thing.
"Mother! That's like 3 months of meat mountains!" His puppy instincts kicked once more. They never left, only suppressed under a truly heavy load.
"Pfft, you two are absolutely adorable together. I'll see how much I can reward you with right now. Wait a moment." She rang a bell and one of the other members ran inside.
"Yes Lady Hephae- Wha- Wha- WHAT HAPPENED!" Soon more came to see what was going on.
"By the gods! Our goddess, her eye! It's healed!"
"Alright, tell me what we can afford to pay out for the reward right now."
"Uh… Oh, uh, we should be able to safely handle 100 million with no issue."
"Good, prepare it at once. He's more than earned it as far as I'm concerned. Now, go on, and get back to work."
"Yes Goddess!"
Everyone left, with a new lease, and purpose in life. What they just witnessed wasn't something as mundane, and simplistic as an injury having been healed… No, it was far more than that… A seemingly impossible task, was completed by mortal hands, Impossible had just become possible.
It was a few seconds later when Hephaestus thought about it a bit herself. The high of such an incredible thing slowly faded to normal thought. She giggled a little. "Hathor, it seems your child's earned the right to level up… To think, he pulled off what not even the gods were able to do. Even if he had a spirit's aid, that's still more than worthy of a level up."
"I know, he's an amazing boy. I love him, and I'm never going to let anyone else take him from me."
"I can tell. The two of you are close as could be. How exactly did you get that close?"
"Lot's of baths together, and lots of nights snuggling him up to me."
Blushing a bit, Hephaestus turned, and smiled. "I see. You really are mother & son."
A little bit later the 100 million came, and was put in front of Shurry. His eyes lit up when he thought of food. And like clockwork, showing just how much she knew him…
"Isn't there another reason you need this money?"
"Huh?"
"Yep! To go on tours of the city with Ardee!"
"Ardee?"
"She's his little girlfriend."
"Oh my! How old is he? 10? And already taking girls out, so reliably adorable."
"I know right! I just have to find a way to convince Ganesha to have her converted."
"Pfft, looks like there's a few barriers but, I'm sure he can shatter them."
After a little tea, and some more small talk… It was decided that Hephaestus wouldn't hide the fact her eye healed. The thought of a healer in the city is strong, and capable enough to perform an impossible task… Well, surely that would help to limit people's worries, all except the Freya, and Loki familias. There were also some other familias, known for healing, that would soon be swamped with a ton of people looking for information.
Hathor, and Shurry both left Babel tower and made their way to a relatively new place opened up on east main street, called the hostess of fertility. Arriving, Shurry smelted a faintly unique, yet hyper confusing scent coming from inside. It wasn't too busy, so they went inside for the lunch hour. And it was clear to him why he knew that one smell.
"You? Are you in the Freya familia?" Shurry asked, doing his best to hold his temper.
