UK:GSW Chapter 378 – Dark Obito Tries to Act Cool, Then Gets Taken Down

Barrier techniques, sealing techniques, and the Flying Thunder God Technique — these were the greatest boosts to Naruto Uzumaki's combat capability in the main world after receiving intensive, top-tier training under Minato Namikaze every day.

Being born with half the Uzumaki Clan's bloodline and possessing their unique constitution, Naruto naturally had the potential for sealing and barrier arts. However, to truly master them, one either needed the overwhelming talent of someone like Kushina Uzumaki — whose natural gift was further enhanced by her bloodline — or the god-tier genius of Minato Namikaze.

Obviously, in the original story, Naruto lacked Minato's extraordinary genius and didn't have Kushina's complete bloodline advantage. He was somewhere in between — and not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed — which is why in Shippuden, he made no notable achievements in sealing or barrier techniques.

In Boruto, as the Seventh Hokage, Naruto did use some sealing and barrier jutsu, but by then, such arts had been "nerfed" to a supporting role rather than game-changers.

But now was different. In an era when sealing and barrier arts had yet to be nerfed, Naruto received the best possible instruction. With his mental faculties fully activated through structured training in the learning space, he truly became a master of these arts.

To put it in classic terms — Naruto was finally living up to the "Uzumaki" name.

This specific barrier, capable of blocking space-time travel, was jointly developed by Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki. Its purpose was to counter enemies with space-time transportation abilities.

Of course, the one who originally planted the idea for this technique was Uchiha Kei — long before the "illusion game" incident — purely because he foresaw that in the future, Obito Uchiha would kill both of them.

Back then, Kei casually mentioned to Minato that one day they might face an enemy with space-time abilities similar to the Flying Thunder God Technique, and without a counter, they'd end up in a cat-and-mouse situation they couldn't win. The suggestion was that some form of sealing or barrier countermeasure would be essential.

Both Minato and Kushina agreed. They knew Flying Thunder God wasn't something only Minato or Konoha could wield — the ninja world was vast, and top geniuses would eventually appear elsewhere. If such a person attacked them, they would have no way to retaliate.

After discussion, these two masters in their respective fields collaborated to create a barrier that could lock down space-time travel.

This barrier could even restrict the Flying Thunder God Technique. Although the jutsu could still be used within the barrier, it was impossible to teleport out of it from the inside.

And to ensure support could still reach the inside, the barrier was designed to allow entry from the outside — though any direct exit attempt would be blocked.

When Uchiha Kei shared intelligence on Dark Obito from World No. 2, Minato, outraged and heartbroken, immediately thought of using this barrier to counter Obito's Kamui Mangekyō.

Naruto had already learned the basics of the Flying Thunder God Technique. Though far less proficient than Minato or even Tobirama Senju, it was enough to meet the requirements for deploying this barrier. Now, he successfully activated it, trapping himself and Dark Obito inside.

A barrier only the size of a basketball court was essentially a cramped cage for high-level ninja. At first, Dark Obito was unfazed. In his mind, barriers might work on ordinary shinobi, but against "Uchiha Madara" — the persona he projected — they were meaningless. His Kamui intangibility could pass through any obstacle with ease.

Confident, he put on a mocking act:

"Ooh, am I trapped? So scary, so scary! Ah, what a terrible fate for dear old Tobi~~~"

He then suddenly shifted his tone to the deep, cold voice of "Uchiha Madara," his lone Sharingan glaring out from behind his mask, projecting a terrifying aura.

Naruto tensed, muscles coiling. Obito was pleased — exactly the reaction he wanted.

"Naruto," he said coldly, "your growth is surprising. To think you've mastered such a fine barrier… it seems after you last met Sasuke, you truly worked hard."

He expected Naruto to be shocked at his apparent omniscience. But Naruto's face stayed exactly the same — serious and focused.

Awkward.

Obito pressed on, strolling casually toward the barrier's edge in his intangible state, fully intending to phase through and walk out.

BONK!

His head smacked solidly against an invisible wall.

"…Huh?"

Utterly dumbfounded, Obito froze. The great boss aura he'd just built up collapsed instantly into pure comedy.

He stepped back, touched the barrier with both hands, and pushed — nothing. No matter how he tried, he couldn't phase through or break free.

What happened? Why isn't Kamui working? What kind of barrier is this?!

Eyes narrowing, Naruto said:

"Can't figure it out? Yeah… just like Uncle Kei said — you might have grown compared to when you were younger, but your bad habit of not thinking things through never changed. Faced with something unexpected, you get flustered, lose your cool, and can't keep acting like the all-mighty 'Uchiha Madara.'"

"Because no matter how long you've been pretending to be Madara, you'll never be Madara. You've only ever been Obito Uchiha."

Obito's Sharingan spun rapidly in shock. This was the nightmare scenario — being unmasked with zero warning.

Naruto continued calmly:

"We've known your real identity for a while now. Not just me — Kakashi-sensei and the others know too. And we know you were the mastermind behind the Nine-Tails' attack on Konoha."

"We came here not for Sasuke, but because we had intel you'd likely show up. This was all a trap."

By now, Obito knew he'd been fully exposed. But instead of panicking, he stared coldly at Naruto. Then, with a gust that ruffled his Akatsuki cloak, he slowly removed his orange mask.

The scarred right side of his face and dual Sharingan were revealed — the true face of Dark Obito, shown to the outside world for the first time in years.

Naruto paused, then said softly:

"No… it's just, the difference between you now and how you were as a kid… it's really something."

Naruto meant it sincerely — having met young Obito in the main world's genjutsu simulations, he remembered the loud, cheerful boy with a good heart. Seeing what that boy had become hit him harder than expected.

Obito, however, took it as an insult:

"You think humiliating me will make you feel better? How shallow."

Naruto shook his head.

"No — I'm just stating the truth. Anyway… any explanations can wait until you're captured. We'll have plenty of time before your trial."

Obito sneered:

"Capture me? You think this little cage can hold me? If anything, you've locked yourself in here with me!"

His right eye twisted into Mangekyō form, his killing intent spiking — he'd take the Nine-Tails' jinchūriki right here!

And then—

BOOM!

Dark Obito was slammed to the ground by a Flying Thunder God–Rasengan from Minato Namikaze. Kakashi Hatake and an older Jiraiya appeared alongside him — all teleported in via Minato's FTG.

This was why the barrier allowed space-time entry from the outside — to let reinforcements arrive instantly.

Naruto said flatly:

"I never said I'd fight you alone. I was just the one setting the trap. What were you waiting for? Death?"

Minato and Jiraiya then unleashed a merciless combo assault, while Kakashi activated his own Mangekyō Kamui to cancel Obito's intangibility, leaving him unable to dodge and forced to take every hit.
