"What exactly do you want?" Qin Xia leaned against the door, looking up at him, her eyes moist, perhaps from drinking or for some other reason.
Chu Zhengran looked at her without speaking, bent down to take off his shoes, placed them by her feet, then lifted her up to stand on them.
After stepping onto his shoes, Qin Xia quieted down, lowering her head without speaking.
"Qin Xia," Chu Zhengran called her name.
Qin Xia still kept her head down, not speaking.
Chu Zhengran looked at her for a while, then asked, "What did my mom say to you?"
Qin Xia remained silent with her head down.
But Chu Zhengran clearly felt her body tense up suddenly.
"When was the first time you met my mom?" Chu Zhengran asked again.
Qin Xia lowered her head, and after a while, said, "Can you let me leave?"
"No," Chu Zhengran replied.
