Sensing a jolt, Aurelia Shaw's brows knitted. When she opened her eyes, she saw Mason Nightshade carrying her on his back, moving forward.
She lowered her head and glanced at Mason Nightshade's shoes.
"Didn't you say Grayson Quinn would find us?"
"Yeah, but he's an idiot. By the time that idiot finally tracks this place down, you might not be able to hold on. Be good, sleep a bit more. You've lost too much blood, you're very weak right now. We're almost out."
Aurelia didn't argue. She could feel the strength draining out of her, her whole body icy cold. Mason Nightshade's coat was draped over her, but she was still freezing.
She didn't know if the secret tunnel was just too cold, or if she was about to die.
Mason Nightshade walked for over an hour before he finally saw light. He twisted open an iron lid–like door and realized they were still on the mountain.
After walking for so long, they'd only gone from one side of the mountain to the other.
