The staff hesitated, sizing up Aurelia Shaw, "I'm sorry, Miss, I don't think you could possibly know the gentleman inside. You have no idea how distinguished his status is."
This was a subtle belittling of her.
Aurelia Shaw wasn't bothered and seriously replied, "I really do know the gentleman inside. Could you please inform him, or... could you call the gentleman's special assistant for me?"
The staff hesitated.
Aurelia Shaw showed an anxious expression, her eyes slightly red, with a misty layer at the bottom of her eyes.
Anyone would find it hard to refuse a gaze like that. The man sighed and said, "Alright, please wait here for a moment. I must tell you in advance, I'm only passing on a message. If he doesn't want to see you, you must leave!"
"Alright." Aurelia Shaw nodded.
The man went inside.
A few minutes later, the man came out again, followed by a tall man.
Not Mason Nightshade.
But Aurelia Shaw didn't recognize him either.
