Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Hourglass of Time 1

Indeed, I have traveled through time again.

FUCK!

Su Ziyu closed his eyes for a moment, sensing that the strange golden hourglass within his consciousness had indeed started to flow slowly. He knew that once the golden sand from the upper end completely flowed into the lower end, he would be forcibly sent to another unfamiliar world. A cold wind made him shiver, and Su Ziyu tightened the animal skin coat around him and looked up to Heaven, trying to determine his position through the stars, but to no avail, only seeing a huge yellowish-brown sphere. This was not Earth, and he didn't know where he was, but he knew that the most important thing was survival, as the cold northern wind was already making his body feel stiff.

"I must find a warm place, otherwise I will freeze to death."

"If I'm not mistaken, I will be here for about ten days. I wonder if there's still a chance to return to Earth."

The cold wind howled, and all around was a vast expanse of white snow.

In the previous world, it was a scorching summer, yet here it had already become a freezing winter. Su Ziyu felt he was lost in the long river of space and time, not knowing where he would wander next. This was the third world he had experienced. After accidentally activating that eerie piece of craftsmanship, which was reportedly from Egypt — a peculiar golden hourglass — he was transported into a lush primordial forest. Initially, he thought he was on Earth, until he was awakened by heavy footsteps at nightfall. By the dim starlight, he saw a huge silhouette; it was a dinosaur about twelve meters tall. He wasn't sure if it was a Tyrannosaurus because by then he was already stunned!

Did I time travel?

Did I travel to the Jurassic era?

Should I just end it?

Su Ziyu was very clear that he had no ability to compete with prehistoric creatures; his chances of surviving in this era were close to zero. But suicide was impossible — even ants strive to live, let alone a living person like himself. Perhaps due to the existence of that prehistoric overlord, Su Ziyu didn't encounter any accidents that night, although he lay on the tree all night without daring to sleep. The next day, that colossal creature reappeared, and Su Ziyu could now confirm it was a kind of Tyrannosaurus, although there were several sharp spines on its back, the appearance of a Tyrannosaurus he couldn't possibly mistake.

After despair comes the will to survive.

Luckily, he had watched quite a few wilderness survival shows before. After the initial panic, Su Ziyu still thought he should do something. The strange golden hourglass disappeared after activation, but when he focused his spirit, he could still see it in his consciousness space, with golden sand slowly flowing down. It was a time scale, and perhaps once the sand was all gone, he could return.

Safety point, food, and water.

The flow speed of the golden sand wasn't too slow; Su Ziyu estimated it would be gone in about three or four days. In the Jurassic era, he couldn't possibly be like Robinson, for any random dinosaur could easily hunt him as prey. He spent some time nearby and found some pungent large dung piles, smearing them on himself and scattering around the tree he stayed near. He wasn't sure if it was Tyrannosaurus dung, but there shouldn't be other large dinosaurs active in the Tyrannosaurus's territory.

Then, Su Ziyu starved on the tree for three whole days.

It wasn't that he didn't want to explore the world; he completely lacked the ability to survive in this world. These days, he saw Winged Dragons flying across the sky, saw the fierce Velociraptors hunting in packs, saw the Tyrannosaurus dragging another dinosaur's corpse back to its lair, and even saw a black worm-like bug about two meters long that resembled a centipede. He felt that any of these creatures had the ability to instantly kill him as a human. He didn't dare to go out searching for food and didn't know what was edible or not, so he relied on collecting dew to barely sustain his life.

He had never starved for such a long time since childhood. By the end of it, he felt extremely weak, as though he might fall off the tree at any moment.

It was about three days.

The sand at the top of the golden hourglass finally ran out. At the moment the time scale ticked away, he was hopeful he would return to Earth, back to his familiar home. But he didn't. His consciousness seemed to wander in the river of time and finally woke up in a scorching desert area.

At that moment, he was truly in despair.

He knew someone starved for three whole days, surviving solely on dew collection, could not possibly traverse a desert alive.

He was almost prepared to wait for death.

The hope sustaining him for the past three days was that the golden hourglass would send him home. But once that hope extinguished, he was nearly at the brink of collapse. Then, he saw a black scorpion, and the sudden surge of hunger made his eyes red, thinking he ought to do something, even if he died, he wanted to have a full meal.

Time seemed to pause for a moment.

Su Ziyu, coming to his senses, found he had indeed caught the scorpion. He quickly twisted off its sting and then put it directly into his mouth, crunching.

He no longer cared if it was poisonous.

All the bacteria and parasites were transient clouds; he just wanted to eat some meat before dying, even if this meat wasn't very tasty.

Food restored a bit of his strength, but exiting the desert remained unlikely. He also didn't know where to go; he could only advance in one direction, even though he himself couldn't understand why he hadn't fallen yet, maybe he was really unwilling, not wanting to die silently like this.

He didn't know how long it had been; he seemed to hear some strange sounds, but his consciousness was already somewhat blurred.

He finally fell.

His consciousness drifted in the darkness for a while. Su Ziyu thought he was already dead, but when he opened his eyes, he found he wasn't.

He was locked in a cage!

"$#%&*...%#%*@#¥%..."

In front of him was a clay pot with water and food inside. Surrounding him were humanoid creatures with dark brown skin, no ears, or hair, and a short tail behind them. They looked like a hybrid of snakes and lizards. These alien species had eyes full of curiosity and surprise, speaking a language that Su Ziyu couldn't understand at all, with a pace quite fast and a bit like the hissing of snakes. They took everything from Su Ziyu, leaving beside him a simple, foul-smelling beast skin garment. A tall, scarred alien species seemed to regard him as its slave and trophy, locking Su Ziyu in a cage and showcasing him to other alien species, much like exhibiting some kind of exotic beast in a zoo.

"Hello."

Su Ziyu tried to communicate with them but received a whip in return. The pain made him groan involuntarily, then he heard the laughter of those alien species, which sounded very piercing.

This was a very bad memory.

Su Ziyu was locked in a narrow cage for five whole days, where he ate, drank, defecated, and slept, surrounded by straw-like plants for warmth; however, by nightfall, he would still shiver from the cold. The temperature difference between day and night here was enormous. The alien species leader trained his subordinates every morning; these alien species used weapons made of black metal, which looked rather barbaric. He saw alien species bleeding during combat training more than once. Every day, alien species escorted him out for people to watch. Su Ziyu judged that he should be in a city.

There was no way to communicate between both sides. The alien species leader looked at him as if he were a dangerous humanoid beast. Any excessive reaction might result in a whip whipping, and even in the last three days, it tried to tame him with the whip, just like taming a beast.

They just wanted to keep him locked in a cage.

Su Ziyu finally gave up on the idea of communication. But that didn't mean he wouldn't get whipped. He even felt that within a few days, he was already starting to get used to the pain.

The sixth day.

Su Ziyu was escorted back from outside, and blood was oozing from his forehead as a result of being hit by a stone thrown by an alien child. The alien species leader appeared in front of him again, of course holding that dark red whip. It seemed to treat whipping Su Ziyu as a form of entertainment, intending to keep whipping until he submitted. The alien species leader didn't like Su Ziyu's eyes; those eyes contained freedom and equality, which were not something a slave should have. It wanted to use the whip to make Su Ziyu completely submit, to understand that he had become a humble slave, learning to lower his head and show the expression one should have when pleasing a master.

But the slave it caught today seemed a little different.

Because he actually gave it the middle finger and then showed a provocatively filled smile, even though his forehead was still bleeding. This discovery infuriated the alien species leader, who proceeded to swing the whip, preparing to give this slave a good lesson, using his painful screams to calm the anger within itself.

The distance was sufficient.

The timing was just about right.

Facing the alien species leader who was closing in step by step, Su Ziyu's anger grew stronger and stronger. His fingers trembled slightly, but he managed to control the changes in his body well. He felt adrenaline surging wildly, his heart rate began to accelerate gradually. The life he had led during this period was worse than a dog, these alien species completely didn't treat him as a human, even with the literacy of a modern civilized person, what surged within his heart was a cold murderous intent.

An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.

This was a truth taught by ancestors.

Facing the alien species leader close at hand, Su Ziyu's figure suddenly lunged forward. At this moment, time seemed to pause for a second, everything turned into slow motion frame by frame, as he reached for the weapon at the alien species leader's waist, then stabbed it directly into its head, exerting all his strength from its jawbone.

Blood splattered.

Then came the exclamations of other alien species around him, the alien species leader in front of him full of disbelief, immediately followed by the tall and sturdy body tumbling down with a crash!

"I *****!!!"

"You really think I have no temper?! . . . Beat you to death! . . . Enjoying whiplashing me huh? . . . This stab is called an eye for an eye! . . ."

Facing the furious alien species rushing over with weapons from all directions, Su Ziyu extended both middle fingers at them, then disappeared from the place out of nowhere, as if he never existed, leaving behind only the gradually cooling corpse of the alien species outside the cage.

One stab, lethal!
