It turned out that before the spring plowing, County Magistrate Gao had purchased a large batch of sorghum seeds and distributed them to the people. Sorghum is drought-resistant, and thus was not affected by the lack of rain, growing quite well. At the very least, Wuyin County would not lack grain this year.
