Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: Daughter of the Winged Serpent God

The real world, Li Hao's apartment.

When Li Hao finished his dream in the other world and woke up again, the sky was already slightly bright.

The rising sun and the setting moon coexisted in the sky, giving a sense of obscurity and laziness.

"Was it... just a dream?"

Staring at the familiar ceiling above, Li Hao's thoughts were still immersed in the wonderful experiences of another world.

After subduing the Great Serpent, Li Hao did not wake up immediately.

Instead, he continued to travel through that world as "A Xin" for a long time.

It was no longer from the omniscient perspective of a God, but truly feeling each flower and tree, each blade of grass and wood in that world.

In this process, Li Hao not only had a tangible sense of the existence of that world, but also learned many secrets about the world's reality from the mouth of the Great Serpent.

For instance, the Ascension Ladder...

For instance, the legend of the Winged Serpent God...

And for instance, the truth of the real universe...

....................................................

In the previous description from Dragon Head, Li Hao learned that these All Heavens and Myriad Realms were actually divided into two parts.

One is the [Ascension Area] where the Gods reside.

There, it is the kingdom of the Gods, also the origin of the birth of the vast majority of life and civilizations.

And the other is the lifeless [Fallen Area].

It is the Tomb of the Gods, also the end point of annihilation for all things, a place that the creatures of the All Heavens and Myriad Realms avoid at all costs.

To be honest, the previous Li Hao always had no tangible sense of this division, just regarded it purely as a "game partition".

However, in the Great Serpent's description, Li Hao learned a shocking fact.

That is, the [Fallen Area] is actually not far from him.

Because the current real universe he is in, is the [Fallen Area] that all Gods dare not approach.

The harsh and dense rules limit the power of every God, and the vast star rivers can accommodate every falling world.

Whenever a star is born and appears in the universe, it means the fall of a Divine Kingdom in the Ascension Area.

Looking up at the endless stars, each of those twinkling stars was once a Divine Kingdom, a world ruled by a God.

[However, not all worlds can be completely preserved.]

[Compared to those stars still twinkling in the universe, the vast majority of the worlds fell apart before being dragged into the Fallen Area.]

[And the world that once nurtured me is one of those shattered worlds.]

This is the original yet sorrowful statement of the Great Serpent, and it is the ultimate fate of the vast majority of Divine Kingdom worlds.

– Gods cannot be eternal, nor can the Divine Kingdom.

The world where the Great Serpent is located is called "Kandarst", translated into a name Li Hao can understand is "Winged Serpent Realm".

Unlike the Mountain and Sea Realm, the Winged Serpent Realm is a Small World independently opened by the Winged Serpent God Kukulkan.

This was an Ancient God once active in the All Heavens and Myriad Realms.

In her peak period, her believers spread across hundreds of worlds, and she was once regarded as the God King most likely to become the "fourteenth Celestial Father Rank Main God".

Unfortunately, just at the peak of the Winged Serpent God Kukulkan, she was coveted by War God Huitzilopochtli, God of Darkness Disketriboka, and Demon God Trakupan.

After successive battles of the Gods, the Winged Serpent God Kukulkan finally chose to retreat.

Since then, the All Heavens and Myriad Realms have rarely heard legends about the Winged Serpent God Kukulkan, until her small world was ultimately dragged into the [Fallen Area].

The original Great Serpent was a fate-chasing Ascender born in this small world.

An Ascender, as the name suggests, is a mortal intending to become a God.

Unlike Demigods who innately have divinity and Divine Power.

An Ascender is a genuine mortal, so the first step they must take is to shed the mortal body, allowing themselves to ascend to the rank of Demigods.

In different worlds, different civilizations, and different species, the methods of shedding the mortal body vary.

The common practice in the Winged Serpent Realm is to use the primordial "Source Power" between heaven and earth to elevate one's soul, ultimately becoming a Divine Soul that can exist independently of the body.

Sky, earth, ocean, gale, sun, moon, thunder, and lightning...

All phenomena and things originally existing in nature are considered a kind of "Source Power", the only difference being the level of difficulty in utilization.

After completing this step, an Ascender barely starts the Ascension Ladder, taking the first step on the long path to "becoming a God".

Due to its importance, the creatures of the Winged Serpent Realm call this step the "Celestial Gate".

It implies that only after completing this step, can one be considered to have officially opened the gate to the path of ascent.

Throughout the entire Winged Serpent Realm, not many can open the "Celestial Gate" to become Ascenders.

And those who can smoothly walk the Ascension Ladder and ascend to the Divine Throne, looking through ancient and modern times, are only a few.

The Great Serpent is both fortunate and unfortunate.

Fortunate in that, the Great Serpent completed all steps of ascension, becoming one of the few Gods in the Winged Serpent Realm.

Unfortunate in that, the Great Serpent was the last entity to complete the Ascension Ladder.

She hadn't even had the chance to have her own exclusive title upon ascending the Divine Throne when the Winged Serpent Realm faced its ultimate fate of falling into the [Fallen Area].

The great and benevolent Winged Serpent God Kukulkan, in her impending destruction's final moments, chose to send out the few remaining Gods of the Winged Serpent Realm.

Even if they were likely to become wandering Gods, it was better than accompanying the Winged Serpent Realm in its burial.

Only the Great Serpent, due to her power being too weak, could not possibly pass through the world barrier and safely reach the other side.

In utter helplessness, the Winged Serpent God Kukulkan had no choice but to protect her last strand of Divine Soul, then fall into the [Fallen Area] with fate at hand.

Thus, when the Great Serpent awoke and regained consciousness, the Winged Serpent God Kukulkan had already perished.

Wandering alone on Earth, the Great Serpent constantly faced the danger of her mind's extinction.

Just like those Ancient Gods wandering on Earth, whose minds had long perished but whose obsessions remained undisturbed.

This is the fate of all Gods fallen into the [Fallen Area].

Also the unavoidable destiny of powerful Gods like the Winged Serpent God Kukulkan.

If nothing unexpected happened, after losing the shelter of the Winged Serpent God Kukulkan, the Great Serpent would also become one of those Ancient Gods with undispersed obsessions.

But what makes an accident an accident is that it comes so unexpectedly.

Just when her mind was about to perish, the Great Serpent unexpectedly found a mortal who could hear her voice.

That was a normal little girl, yet she had the bloodline of an Ancient God.

Her name was — Meng Yao!
