Chapter 5 - Chapter 3: Enemies Cross Paths

Brooke Osborne pursed her lips, not responding.

As if by not responding, this terrifying idea wouldn't come true.

Lawrence Winters quickly looked towards the direction of the high-speed rail station, comforting her, "Don't worry, I see they're handling it very promptly over there. Police cars, ambulances, and fire trucks are all in position."

Then he turned his head to glance in another direction and said, "...Hmm, the crowd's emotions are stable."

Though Brooke Osborne was incredibly worried, she was amused by Lawrence Winters' earnest demeanor.

She patted Lawrence Winters' slightly chubby apple cheeks, gently saying, "I understand now, thanks to Little Heavenly Master's blessing, our Kenneth will definitely be alright."

Just as she finished speaking, her phone dinged with an incoming message.

Brooke Osborne looked down and her joy overflowed as she hugged Lawrence Winters tightly, repeatedly saying, "Lawrence, you're truly my lucky star!"

"My brother's fine! He's already out of the station! He's coming over to us!"

Lawrence Winters shared her excitement, smiling like an apple in bloom, "That's wonderful! Why don't we go back together? My uncle's Grand Cherokee is over there, big and spacious, it can fit six people without a problem!"

Especially on a day like today, a big car really comes in handy.

Then the two began looking around, eager to see from which direction Kenneth Osborne would arrive.

Where they stood wasn't far from the high-speed rail station, because of the accident over there, normal entry and exit routes to the station were sealed off, with police conducting checks over there.

The ramp leading onto the highway was packed, right at the crossroads between the highway entrance and the high-speed rail station.

Brooke Osborne sent Kenneth Osborne her location.

Kenneth Osborne dragged a small carry-on suitcase, soon finding his way over.

Lawrence Winters was still struggling to stand on tiptoe, looking around, when suddenly someone tapped her on the head.

She immediately pulled a face, turning back angrily to see who dared to touch her "puppy head"!

Looking up, she saw a man in a short black woolen coat standing behind her.

Seeing her anger, he gently broke into a smile, his beautifully shaped phoenix eyes blinking gently at her.

Lawrence Winters couldn't look away, her mind flooded with a single phrase: Blossoms in the spring breeze of the flower moon.

The man was someone she had known since childhood, but each time they reunited, his ever-increasing charm always managed to shock her anew.

...

Brooke Osborne saw her brother emerge safely from the high-speed rail station, nearly bursting into tears from excitement.

"Kenneth, are you alright?!" She rushed over and hugged his arm.

Kenneth Osborne comforted his sister amicably, trying to downplay the incident: "I'm fine, sis, I'm fine. Actually, there wasn't much of an issue over there, just a carriage suddenly derailed, affecting the ones behind. I was at the front and had just arrived at the station, so I wasn't affected at all."

Brooke Osborne held his arm, looking him up and down, realizing he was indeed unharmed, from head to toe, even his hairstyle remained perfectly intact—handsomely clear and refreshing.

"That's good! That's good!" she said repeatedly, then thought of her own car which had been badly rear-ended, sighing helplessly, "But something happened to me, I just got rear-ended, and the car can't be driven."

Kenneth Osborne saw it, handed his carry-on luggage to Brooke Osborne, then took Brooke's phone and walked over to negotiate with the traffic police and the party at fault.

The vehicle at fault was a very luxurious Range Rover SUV, seemingly occupied by a family.

The driver was the father, in his fifties, looking quite aged, along with a golden-adorned mother in her forties, a twenty-something daughter, and a teenage son.

Initially, the family refused to admit it was their fault, making calls everywhere to pull favors.

Kenneth Osborne approached, smiling before speaking, then softly asked, "Excuse me, who is the owner of the vehicle? My sister's car was rear-ended, I'm here to inquire about the situation."

His voice was rich and smooth, as soon as he spoke, the previously furious daughter blushed.

She quickly lowered her head, pretending not to care as she twisted her neck, tidied her hair at the car window, and then slightly turned, quickly sneaking a glance at Kenneth Osborne.

Kenneth Osborne was talking with her father, the owner of the Range Rover, initially not noticing her.

However, as she stole glances once, then twice, Kenneth Osborne caught sight of her.

Without anger, he smiled at her again, showing a neat set of white teeth, his expressive phoenix eyes glanced toward her, politely asking, "...Do you need anything?"

Just a gentle look, yet his gaze flowed like waves.
