Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: A Terrifying Choice

"Very good, just like that, take it slowly, don't look down, right..." Wang Qiang spoke to dispel the woman's fear while tightly gripping the edge of the folding bed to keep it stable.

There was no choice because of the limitation in length of the folding bed; its reach could only touch the edge of the balcony. Therefore, Wang Qiang and Tang Xiaoquan each had to hold the bed head tightly to prevent it from falling due to the woman's movements.

Without a doubt, moving on such a high "bridge" would induce a certain amount of fear even in a grown man, let alone the delicate woman who was crawling in such a tense situation. Just looking at her trembling body was enough to show how terrified she must be.

Unfortunately, it seemed heaven had little compassion, for just as the woman began crawling onto the "bridge," there came the sound of door smashing and breaking.

"Bang, crack! Roar!"

Seeing the disgusting creature force itself out of the half-body hole, Tang Xiaoquan couldn't help but feel his scalp tingle. The woman also heard the commotion behind her, making her even more terrified, and she screamed out loud.

"Ah!"

Instantly, accompanied by the woman's scream, the building echoed with rising and falling howls, wave after wave, like a passionate and stirring variation symphony. Only this symphony, when it fell into one's ears, was so hair-raising.

"Damn it!" The situation they least wanted to encounter still happened. Tang Xiaoquan immediately paid no heed to anything else and shouted at the trembling and sobbing woman crawling in the "bridge": "Why the hell are you still just sitting there stupidly? Hurry up and crawl! Do you want to die?"

Want to die? Clearly, the woman had never had such thoughts, or she wouldn't have risked crawling onto the "bridge." But at this moment, due to the adrenaline heavily released, she was akin to being in boundless purgatory, her whole body paralyzed beyond control, unable to hear Wang and Tang's loud shouting.

Adrenaline is a very peculiar thing that releases automatically when the human body feels tense. Its release frequency adjusts according to the body's different levels of tension.

As for the common saying that people in crisis will explode with inherent potential, this is largely due to adrenaline.

However, to harness the special effect of adrenaline, one must overcome a problem. This problem is that those in danger must confront their inner fears and break them. Otherwise, they will only be trapped in the endless fear created by their own adrenaline.

This is the so-called good comes with bad; either overcome your fear and unleash potential, or bow down and fall into hell.

But saying it is simple, doing it is not so easy, especially for ordinary people without professional training, it's as difficult as climbing the heavens.

"What should we do, Quan? How about I go up and pull her over?"

Seeing the woman's helpless trembling appearance, Wang Qiang felt some compassion and immediately thought of going to her aid. But Tang Xiaoquan stopped him, grabbing his shoulder first.

"No, Qiang, the other end of the railing is just fastened with sheets, it's not enough to support both your and her weight, and if she's not afraid herself, you can't pull her either!"

"But, if this goes on, the zombies behind will..."

"Hey! Get your damn mind clear, if you really want to die then say so! We don't want to die with you!" Tang Xiaoquan roared, his voice hoarse, as he forcefully pounded the surface of the bed.

After all, he was merely a lad in his early twenties; he too felt fear and terror, and the woman's prolonged hesitance left him feeling his life was being threatened.

The woman remained foolishly on the bed without moving, even with the bed shaking fiercely due to Tang Xiaoquan's pounding, she showed no signs of action, only desperately clinging to the sides of the bed and crying hysterically.

"Damn it all to hell!" Tang Xiaoquan lifted his foot and stomped the ground hard, a thought flashed in his mind to throw the bed over and leave the woman to die, but fortunately, his inner rationality pulled him back to the line of moral decency. Yet even so, he still couldn't quell the urge to abandon the woman.

As Wang Qiang struggled with the woman, the turned creature was already excitedly pouncing towards her.

Undoubtedly, the woman's movement was striking a chord with the zombies.

A slap landed on the wooden bed, then pulling it back, the sharp corpse claw immediately left five terrifying claw marks on the bed surface.

"Roar~"

Hearing the death god-like roar behind her and feeling the increasing frequency of the bed's sway, the woman seemed to awaken, slowly turning her head, her eyes widening.

"Ah!" Tang Xiaoquan had no idea how fear could drive a person insane, but he did thoroughly understand how high-pitched a woman's scream could be.

The resonance in his eardrums left him briefly deafened, but what he never expected was that, after glancing at the zombies, the woman turned as if she had taken a stimulant, fervently crawling forward with her "dolphin-like" voice high in pitch.

"Very good! Keep going! You can do it!" Wang Qiang encouraged the woman with every ounce of his energy, clearly sensing her intense survival instinct as the bed under his control was shaking at an immensely terrifying frequency.

One step, two steps, three steps, the woman swaying in the middle of the bed was like a lone boat in a vast ocean, helpless and solitary.

Tang Xiaoquan watched indifferently at everything before him, but his focus was not on the climbing woman...

"Seems like these creatures like the zombies in games don't have climbing abilities."

Law of Survival Rule #7: During a crisis, you must always understand and analyze the surrounding environment.

And as Tang Xiaoquan secretly analyzed the zombies' behaviors in his heart, the woman's crawling finally came to an end...
