Chapter 10 - Chapter 010: A Unique Boyfriend

"Sophie, how can you talk like this? I thought you were my best friend!" Eva complained angrily, "How could you treat me like this?"

"Best friend? The best friend who, right after I told you my hiding place, went and told my creditor where I was?" Sophie mocked, "I really can't afford a friend like you."

"I didn't..." Eva started to refute, but Sophie cut her off, "Do you want me to show you my creditor's phone? It still has your tattling message on it."

Upon hearing this, Eva's face changed dramatically.

Her panicked expression made everything clear to everyone watching.

No one is a fool, isn't it obvious what the truth of the situation is?

"Eva, are you surprised why my creditor showed me their phone?" Sophie mocked.

Of course, Eva was dying of curiosity, but how could she ask?

Luckily, Sophie didn't keep her guessing and said with a smile, "Because that person is my boyfriend."

"What?" Eva couldn't believe it, "Your boyfriend?"

"That guy couldn't wait and insisted on making it official, so he came up with this plan." Sophie laughed shyly and happily, "If it weren't for you telling him where I was hiding, how could he prepare so thoroughly to surprise me?"

This shocking twist almost made Eva's jaw drop.

The receptionist squealed with excitement, "Sophie, your boyfriend is so creative! How romantic."

The young girl, having just graduated, was still full of all sorts of beautiful fantasies about love and was utterly smitten.

"Really?" Eva looked as if she had swallowed a fly, "Then congratulations to you."

"Hmm." Sophie graciously accepted Eva's congratulations, smiling as she sarcastically remarked, "You really are my good sister. Even when you didn't know about my boyfriend's plan, you went through my phone to find the creditor's number and revealed my whereabouts to him."

Eva's expression changed as she felt the gaze of the crowd, and suddenly she coldly sneered, "Sophie, is that really your boyfriend?"

"Is it or isn't it? When my boyfriend comes and shows you his phone, then you'll know." Sophie smiled, glancing at Eva, "Everyone can be a witness."

"You think I'm scared?" For the sake of her reputation, even if Eva was unsure inside, she had to go along with it.

Now Eva could only gamble that Sophie was bluffing.

"I have no problem, just afraid you... won't find your 'boyfriend.'" Eva didn't believe Sophie at all.

Back then, when Sophie mentioned the debt, she was in a panic, especially with the threatening messages on her phone saying they would take her life if she didn't repay the money; it was terrifying.

If that weren't true, why would Sophie run away and hide?

It must be fake, Sophie must be lying.

"We'll find out after work." Sophie's confident smile gracefully carried her past everyone, back to her work position.

Eva, meanwhile, shot a displeased look at the onlookers, "What are you looking at? Get back to work!"

The onlookers quickly retreated, and Eva turned to Lucas Payten, asking, "Lucas, do you believe her or me?"

"Of course, I believe you." Lucas squeezed out a gentle, admiring smile. As a designer who hadn't yet secured his position in the company, he had to firmly stand on the side of the general manager's niece.
