Chapter 218 - Chapter 217: Peace with Wakanda

The mood was serious after the revelations about Wakanda. Screens displayed maps and limited information about the African nation, but everyone knew the data was incomplete.

They had just learned that a whole advanced civilization had been hiding in plain sight. Now they needed to decide their next steps carefully.

"What do we do now? Should we ignore Wakanda and keep on focusing on Hydra?" Natasha asked.

Her question was practical. Hydra remained an active threat with brainwashed agents and hidden bases. Dividing their attention might weaken their efforts against the immediate danger.

"I can't believe that Wakanda has been sitting on vibranium for so many years and they did not do anything about it. They could have done so much during the world war. Heck they could have stopped Hydra back then. They could have helped during the Chitauri invasion if their level of technology is that good. At least they could have traded some of the vibranium," Tony said snarkily, a little angry by Wakanda's actions.

The billionaire inventor felt frustrated thinking about all the lives that might have been saved if Wakanda had shared even a small part of their resources. Wars could have ended sooner.

"We all know how the world works Tony. Do you think that the other countries governments would not have tried to take it from them? If I am not wrong, they even tried to take your Iron Man suit? They would have tried to do the same to Wakanda even centuries ago," Kakashi said. He had seen similar situations in his own world.

Nations and villages often fought over rare resources like chakra metal or jutsu scrolls.

"They did what they believed was best for them. And if I were you, I would be glad that Wakanda did not do anything and decided to sit on the sidelines because if they could make spears that could shoot energy blasts and can explode and are nigh indestructible, they could have easily taken over the world long ago," Kakashi said.

Tony had nothing to say to it because he knew that was the truth. The inventor stopped pacing and sat down heavily in a chair. He rubbed his face with one hand, acknowledging Kakashi's point silently.

Tony had dealt with governments trying to control his suits many times. He could imagine how much worse it would have been for an entire nation sitting on the world's most valuable metal.

"But things have changed. The world now has Avengers and so they now feel that their power and independence is at risk because they are no longer the only strongest force on Earth," Kakashi said, already knowing what made Wakanda and its king send assassins after them.

The emergence of the Avengers had shifted global power. Wakanda, which had been the secret superpower for generations, now saw potential rivals.

"They fear that we would take what Wakanda has, its resources. We have to reassure them that we won't do such a thing as Avengers goal is to protect Earth not conflicts between countries," Kakashi continued. He outlined a peaceful approach.

"As long as they don't use what they have to wage war against the entire world, Avengers would stay silent," Kakashi added firmly.

"We also have to tell them that sending assassins after one of us would not be taken lightly from the next time," Kakashi said. His tone grew serious when he mentioned the attack. The team could forgive the first attempt as a mistake born from fear, but any future aggression would meet a strong response.

"And if they are open to it maybe they would be open to sharing their technology and some vibranium in exchange for some secrecy," Kakashi said with a smile underneath his mask that while they could not see everyone could tell there was one.

Mutual benefit could solve many problems. Wakanda could keep their hidden status while trading knowledge that would help the whole world.

At the time they all realised that Kakashi often introduced himself as a shinobi and now they knew why he called himself one.

"Let's give Wakanda a visit then," Cap said.

Creel said, "Umm, are we forgetting that boss just brought a dead person's soul back?" The large man shifted uncomfortably as he reminded everyone of the incredible and disturbing event they had witnessed.

"I still can't believe you can do it. Is that supposed to be occult practice that my grandma did warn me about," Clint said.

Kakashi could tell there were a few people in the room who wanted him to bring back the dead to finally get a talk with them.

He noticed the hopeful or curious glances from some teammates. The pain of past losses was still fresh for many. Yet he knew that it would be the wrong move. It would not give peace and even if it did, he was not sure that attempting the reanimation jutsu was the right thing. Even now his instincts were screaming at him that someone was gazing at him from beyond and coupled with Ancient One's warning he knew he should not perform the jutsu.

The Avengers that were going to Wakanda were him, Natasha, Clint and Cap.

And they decided to first see how the country was, their level of technology and how the king treated its citizens before engaging them with talks by infiltrating Wakanda.
