Chapter 73 - Chapter 72: Blue Beast Of Harlem

A few days had passed since Kakashi placed the juinjutsu seals on Emil Blonsky and Carl Creel. Now, they were in a secret training facility that Fury had lent Kakashi to train his new team.

Kakashi stood before Blonsky, as he worked to help the former soldier switch back to his human form.

Kakashi's hands moved fast with his fingertips covered with chakra as he tried blocking Blonsky's chakra points but he was unsuccessful in it.

'The gamma radiation didn't just increase his chakra—it made it rampageous. The points I block become unblocked within seconds.' Kakashi stepped back.

'He'll never be able to use chakra to fight. He can't control such chaotic energy.' His mind searched for solutions. 'Meditating helped calm his anger, but it's not enough. At this rate, Blonsky's losing hope of ever seeing his human form again.'

Blonsky glanced at Kakashi, his hope dwindling. 'He's trying, but what if it's pointless? I'm stuck like this. A monster forever.'

Kakashi's mind zeroed in on the root of the problem. 'Blonsky's issue is tied to his emotions. He transformed into this form because of anger and jealousy toward his defeat against Hulk and Banner. If I can make him less angry, less jealous, he could probably turn back to human.'

'His gamma mutation is tied to brain activity, emotional spikes, and hormonal surges. If the trigger starts in his mind, then his body is just following orders it doesn't even know it's giving.'

Kakashi considered his options, 'If I can bypass his conscious mind and plant a deep-rooted command—then I can make his body think, 'Now is the time to transform,' or 'Time to relax.' '

Kakashi's thoughts turned to genjutsu, a tool he rarely used for such purposes. 'He's more susceptible to genjutsu than Hulk. Hulk's just very angry, no reasoning. Blonsky's still himself, just… little angry. If I align the genjutsu with his subconscious triggers, I could give him a mental 'switch'.'

'Of course, if someone else figures out the trigger phrase and shouts it in a crowd… well, that's another problem entirely.' He pushed the thought aside for now.

Kakashi faced Blonsky as he explained the issue and his plan to him. "Right now, your body is in this state because subconsciously it's angry, stressed, and jealous of the Hulk. What I'm proposing is… let's rewrite this state. I can use a genjutsu—think of it as a guided hypnotic program—to plant a subconscious command in your mind. The command could be anything: a word, a sound, a hand gesture. When you use it, your body will think, 'I am very angry,' and you would transform into this form."

"Same for switching back—different trigger when you would think everything is okay, I am in a happy place. And please—pick a trigger word better than 'smash.' If I'm not wrong, Hulk regularly uses it."

"So, in simple words, you would be brainwashing me?" Blonsky asked.

Kakashi rubbed the back of his neck embarassed. He didn't need to make it sound so complicated.

"Uh, technically yes," he admitted, his tone sheepish.

Blonsky's thoughts softened slightly, his desperation outweighing his doubts. 'If it gets me back to human…'

"I'm in," he said, his voice firm.

Kakashi nodded. He recalled the technique's origins. Shinobi villages used this for spies—planting code words to break genjutsu, making them report to their village, then slipping back into their cover as if nothing happened. It was never Kakashi's specialty, but he copied a genjutsu like this once.

Blonsky had entrusted Kakashi with choosing the trigger phrases, and Kakashi had thought hard, his mind sifting through memories for something fitting.

Kakashi's thoughts settled on an old friend, he smiled a little underneath his mask. He made his decision as he made quick hand signs to apply the Genjutsu and even used his sharingan to implant it into the brain and make the Genjutsu more effective.

"Did it work?" Blonsky asked, his tone hopeful but uncertain.

"Let's find out," Kakashi said. He spoke clearly, "The springtime of youth… needs a nap."

Blonsky's pupils dilated for a second, his massive form shimmering. His body shrank, the greenish - blue hue fading as he transformed back into his human form.

He stared at his hands, his thoughts overwhelmed with relief. 'My hands… human.' He touched his cheeks, his fingers trembling.

He stood, unembarrassed by his nakedness, his soldier's mentality overriding any shame. "Thank you, thank you. I think I now get what people mean by saying you never value what you're given until it's gone."

"Now let's find out if you can transform back easily," Kakashi said.

He spoke the second trigger. "It's time to unleash my inner youth—the Blue Beast of Harlem is here!"

Blonsky's body expanded back into the Abomination, green and massive.

Blonsky looked at Kakashi, "And what do the two phrases even mean? And why Beast of Harlem?"

"I just remembered a friend when I was thinking of some code. As for Harlem, you fought Hulk there, so I thought it fitted. Now remember the two phrases and never speak them loud. Just mumble them very softly. Thinking about them in your mind would not trigger it since the genjutsu is sound-based."

Kakashi's voice took on a warning edge. "The risk? Well… if someone else figures out your trigger and says it in the wrong situation, you might turn into a two-ton wrecking ball at a children's birthday party. So maybe… keep it a secret."

Blonsky nodded.

"Alright now time for some real training." Kakashi said.
