Chapter 77 - Chapter 76: Visiting Clint's Family (1)

In the open training area, dotted with sparse trees, Clint sprinted across trees, his movements fast as he fired arrow after arrow at Kakashi Hatake

He leaped to another tree, nocking an arrow and fired, his eyes locked on Kakashi's position.

Kakashi dodged effortlessly, his body a blur as he used Body Flicker to shift his stance, arrows whizzing past.

He assessed Clint's progress, 'His aim is quite good. He is moving well on trees. It would help him in modern areas too with buildings and roofs.'

Clint landed on anothet branch. He performed a quick one-handed sign, bow still in hand, and fired an arrow that split into four—one real, three illusions.

The arrows streaked toward Kakashi. Kakashi's eye tracked them, his thoughts unruffled. 'Illusion arrows with a single handsign. Good. It helped that he had only a couple jutsu that he had to practice.'

He dodged with minimal effort, the illusions vanishing as they struck trees or ground, leaving only the real arrow to embed in a trunk.

Kakashi slipped behind a tree. Clint, undeterred, nocked another arrow, infusing it with chakra.

The arrow shot forward with extraordinary speed, piercing through the tree with a crack, aimed straight at Kakashi's chest.

Clint's eyes widened, his thoughts horrified as the arrow tore through, leaving a gaping hole in Kakashi's torso.

'No!' But the figure vanished in a burst of smoke, a shadow clone. Clint's thoughts shifted to relief. 'Damn it, Kakashi!'

Kakashi appeared beside him, his voice calm. "You've improved a lot. A lot more than I expected from you in just two months."

Clint exhaled, his thoughts settling.

"You gotta teach me how to create a shadow clone. Illusion clones are cool and all, but real clones? Now that's what I want."

Kakashi shook his head, "You don't have the chakra capacity for it. If you even try it, you'll die."

Clint was disappointed but accepted the fact easily. "Oh well, I should be happy with what I have. The last thing in the training left is you teaching me a single elemental C-rank jutsu, right? So what'll it be?"

Kakashi replied, "Not yet. You need to rest a bit to give your chakra coils time to heal. In your thirty years of life, it was your first time using chakra. They need some healing."

Clint nodded, "Well then, seeing that I've got a lot of time left in my vacation, you should visit my family. Laura and the kids really want to meet you."

Kakashi raised an eyebrow, his thoughts skeptical. "You told them about me? Aren't I supposed to be some SHIELD secret?"

Clint rubbed his forehead sheepishly, "Well, Laura's a retired SHIELD agent, so it's fine, and well… I couldn't resist telling the kids about a ninja. That's how you get the Best Dad Award, after all. And I was the best agent SHIELD had a couple of months back, so I didn't fear the pushback."

Kakashi flatly said, "I'm not good with kids."

Clint turned insistent, "Oh, I'm more worried about you. Besides, it's very peaceful. They live in a farmhouse in Iowa. It's good for some peace after all the serious missions. And you're coming with me. No excuses."

Kakashi sighed, his thoughts resigned. "Fine."

Clint's wore a grin on his face,"You won't regret it. Laura's cooking's worth the trip."

A day later, they arrived at Clint's farmhouse in Iowa. Clint pushed open the door, his voice loud. "I'm home, and I brought a guest!"

Laura emerged from the kitchen. She hugged Clint, and they shared a quick kiss, her thoughts content. She turned to Kakashi, her voice warm. "You must be Kakashi. I've heard a lot about you from both my husband and my former colleagues in SHIELD. Thank you for taking care of my husband."

Kakashi nodded awkwardly, "Just doing my job," he said, his voice even.

Before he could adjust, loud running steps echoed, and two kids—Cooper and Lila—came rushing in.

Clint shouted "Incoming!"

They barreled toward Clint, hugging him tightly.

"Dad!" they shouted, their voices overlapping.

Clint grinned, his thoughts proud. "Look who I brought home with me, kiddos, he is…" Before he could finish, Cooper's eyes widened, his thoughts thrilled. "The ninja!"

"Woah, Dad, you brought the mysterious ninja! Uncle Kakashi!" The kids rushed at Kakashi, their arms outstretched for a hug.

Kakashi looked at the kid's rushing at him for a hug, "Yeah, no," he said, sidestepping swiftly to avoid the hug. With reflexes honed by battle, he grabbed Cooper and Lila by their collars, lifting them into the air to prevent them from crashing into a wall. Their legs dangled, flailing wildly.

Cooper's voice was awed. "Woah, he's fast like a ninja!"

Lila's eyes sparkled, "Woah, Mom, he has more beautiful hair than you! What's the shampoo he uses?"

Kakashi held the kids awkwardly, debating whether to drop them or keep them suspended. His eye darted to Clint looking for some help, who was stifling a laugh, his thoughts amused. He was clearly loving this.

Laura came to his rescue, "Lila, don't pester him," she said.

Kakashi gently lowered Cooper and Lila to the ground. He glanced at Clint, his voice dry. "You didn't warn me they're this… energetic."

"Told you I was more worried about you," Clint said, his voice teasing.

Cooper tugged at Kakashi's sleeve eagerly. "Can you do ninja stuff? Like, disappear?"

Lila nodded as she jumped around, "Yeah, show us something cool!"

"Maybe later," Kakashi said.

"Kids, give Uncle Kakashi a break. He's not used to you two chipmunks yet." Clint said

Laura said, "Come on, let's get you both settled. Dinner's soon."

Clint clapped Kakashi's shoulder, his thoughts encouraging. "You'll survive. They love you already."

He then grinned at Kakashi, his voice teasing. "I take it back. You really are not good with kids."
