S: Shut up!
Spell froze only for it to continue.
S: I said shut up.
His voice was ruthlessly cold, making the space around him quake.
After some time, Sunny wiped his tears and stood up. His eyes were cold.
S: Go on.
Spell: Your nightmare is over.
Final evaluation: [Divine]
Sp: You are the only disciple of the Nine.
Gods were mad for you to team up with the Nine, but were stopped by the 2 of them.
You are my son. How could I hate you said Shadow God with a smile.
You are the heir to the Shadow God lineage and a lovely disciple of the Unknown.
S: So Thene wasn't lying about saying she is Shadow God?
Sp: You have received a true name.
[Lost From Light] - description. Although I couldn't have a child, you still thought of me as your mom, and so I want our lineage to continue.
Sunny blushed while reading the description of his true name.
S: Well, I just hope I don't have to do it right away.
Thinking about Nephis, he blushed even more.
S: Hey, Wever, your spell is truly something else. I always wondered how it works so well. Would you mind explaining?
Spell shuddered in surprise but continued.
S: No answer? Oh well.
You have received an attribute.
[Heir of a Shadow God]
Rank - [divine]
Flaw - [clear conscious]
Sp: [You have received an aspect legacy: Disciple the sword of the Nine]
[You have received an aspect legacy: Disciple the bow of the Nine]
[You have received an aspect legacy: Disciple the spear of the Nine]
[You have received an aspect legacy: Disciple the sorcery of the Nine]
[You have received an aspect legacy: divine shadow dance]
You have killed an Awakened Tyrent: Mountain King. You have received a memory. Puppeteer shroud.
Sunny opened his eyes and saw Jet again, but before he could think of an answer, she asked.
Jet: What are you staring at?
S: Your breasts.
Jet swung her hand, but Sunny rolled off his seat, landing on the ground.
Jet tilted her head, surprised.
Jet: Oh? And here I thought this would be below my pay grade. Those were great reflexes. Still watch what you say next time, kid.
Sunny proceeded to follow Jet into a different police vehicle, the last time and entered the same one as Nephis was in.
He spotted her as soon as he sat in front of her and could not stop staring at her.
Nephis looked at Sunny as well, tears rolling down her cheeks, only to burn to nothing by her flames.
She took off her headphones and looked up at Sunny.
Sunny beat her to speaking, tho.
S: Neph. Do you. Are you…
Neph's eyes glistened as she nodded happily.
S: I am so, so happy to see you again.
Since they were seated at the back of the truck with no one around them, they stood up and hugged each other, not wanting to let each other go.
S: Hey, Neph.
N: Yes?
Her eyes were full of life and happiness.
S: Say my name.
N: What? Absolutely not. I don't want to take your freedom away from you again.
S: I thought you trusted me.
N: No, I do. I do.
Sunny smiled and patted her hair.
S: Then say it, please.
N: Lost from Light.
Sunny kissed her as she said it, making her blush, but she returned his kiss. Surprisingly, it felt way better than she remembered it. Maybe it was because she was younger, or maybe because she saw the runes of his true name, making her blush like crazy.
This partnership also lets them summon their partner's runes at any time. There were few restrictions that were tied to the ability they possessed and thus making one see something as unknown, but others could see it normally.
S: Everything has its time, Neph.
N: Alright.
With that, she pulled away from their hug but sat down next to him, putting his head on her shoulder.
When they exited the APC, they slowly walked to the gate, and Neph asked him while looking ahead.
N: Will you hide your true name anyway, or your abilities?
S: true name, yes, abilities no. It would be an insult to my teachers.
Nephis thought about asking, but let it go.
When the master Rock introduced the rules and what they needed to do, Sunny found Cassia and offered his help to her.
Ca: Why would you help me? I am blind after all.
S: So what? I don't know what your power is, but it must be incredible. I mean, with such a drastic flaw? Don't ever get swayed by something like I am bad or useless. Just remember your flaw. With such a powerful flaw, there has to be something that it is guarding.
Ca: thank you…
S: Sunny.
Ca: Thank you, Sunny.
As the day was nearing its end, they had one more thing to do, and that was their combat training. The last one was Sunny, against him was one of Caster's friends, but for some reason, in the moment he faced Sunny, he fell down disoriented. Sunny looked at master Rock, questioning, and Master Rock motioned Caster and Nephis to decide who would want to face him. At the end, Sunny decided for them
Caster picked up a wooden sword and stood in front of Sunny. Sunny showed them his wooden sword and tossed it away. Making a sound of wood clanging against the surface of the training facility.
Master Rock tilted his head, but didn't stop him.
Rock: start!
Despite facing a very swift opponent able to gain incredible speed and power, it felt as if he could not focus clearly on what was happening in front no all around them. Caster stabbed blindly but just gently pushed him into his back, breaking his balance and was thrown from the ring with his own momentum.
Everyone who was watching the fight could only say one word: pretty.
By the time they shook off their distraction, Caster was already out of the ring, clearly confused about how he got there.
Master Rock's jaw hung open, and once he saw Caster on the ground, he clapped.
Ro: Excellent, that was a beautiful performance, sleeper Sunless.
With that, he walked away, mainly because this was the last fight, and so their lesson was over.
Rock waited till everyone left, only to look at Sunny quizzically.
Ro: Sleeper Sunless, the lesson is over.
S: Can I stay here? I want to practice more.
Rock sighed but shook his head.
Ro: As much as I want to, I can't. Regulations won't allow it.
Sunny shrugged his shoulders and walked past him with a hint of sadness in his eyes.
Sunny walked outside and looked around the campus, spotting a forest nearby. He headed for it, and once he reached it, he started to wander around. Everything was quiet and calm despite the distant footsteps Sunny heard from time to time. After some time, he reached a nice clearing and he started to stretch. Right as he finished stretching, he took off his shirt as well as training pants, shoes and socks. He called for his puppeteer's shroud and equipped only the lower part.
S: Thene said this should be enough.
Still barefoot, he started to perform the Shadow dance taught to him by Thene. Sunny smiled to himself as he was dancing within and with the shadows. Foreset sweyed slightly from time to time whenever he finished one of the finishing parts of his dance.
N: Beautiful.
Nephis was leaning on the tree, watching Sunny. Sunny faced her and smiled gently, making Nephis's heart skip,
N: This feeling, it's nice. She smiled back at Sunny, but suddenly he was gone from her sight, only to appear right in front of her face.
Nephis jumped in shock, hitting her head into the tree against which she was leaning on. Somehow, tho the hit was soft, not rough. Sunny pulled his hand away from behind her head and shook it.
S: auch.
Nephis grabbed his palm, but Sunny spun her and held her by her waist as if performing a dance move. He pulled her closer to him by her waist and kissed her. She let go of his wrist and instead grabbed his hair, kissing him back with passion, falling on the soft grass in the process. Shadows around them got deeper, but it wasn't scary, it was as if they were hiding them even more.
