Looking at the patterns on the Pokémon Egg Xiao Luoxue had chosen, Jiang Chen immediately recognized it it was a Munchlax egg.

"Munchlax is quite cute, and even after it evolves into Snorlax, it stays adorable. Plus, its combat strength is nothing to scoff at."

"However, if you're going to raise a Snorlax, I hope you don't regret it later."

A Munchlax's appetite was truly terrifying; it could eat nearly its own body weight in food every single day. Once it evolved into Snorlax, that appetite only became more monstrous.

Of course, the cost of food was a minor issue. Xiao Luoxue's family didn't lack money, and she could easily afford to keep a Snorlax fed.

The real problem was that Snorlax loved to sleep. It would sleep as soon as it was full and eat as soon as it woke up.

Being a glutton that did nothing but eat and sleep, most people especially ordinary trainers avoided raising them. An average person simply couldn't handle the burden of a Snorlax.

"I will definitely raise a powerful Snorlax," Xiao Luoxue declared, having made up her mind. "When the time comes, it can test itself against your Slaking."

"Against my Slaking?" Jiang Chen couldn't help but chuckle at the thought.

"You don't think I can do it? Just wait. Sooner or later, I'll make you see me in a whole new light." Xiao Luoxue gave a defiant huff.

Jiang Chen just smiled without a word and took out his bank card to pay. A Munchlax egg wasn't cheap. While it couldn't compare to the price of a Starter Pokémon egg, it still cost several million Poké Dollars.

"Valued guest, this Munchlax egg is very close to hatching," the salesperson explained. "I estimate it will likely hatch sometime today."

"Hatching today?" An expectant look appeared on Xiao Luoxue's face.

As they walked out of the Pokémon Nursery, Jiang Chen looked at the delighted Xiao Luoxue and said, "I have a feeling you're going to regret this later."

"Regret it? No way. I'll never regret this."

"Is that so? Well, once you actually start training it, you'll see."

Unless Xiao Luoxue planned to keep it strictly as a pet, Jiang Chen was certain she would eventually feel the headache.

"I agree with Jiang Chen. I think you'll regret it too," Ling Wanqiu added.

While Snorlax didn't have the Truant Ability, its personality was essentially one of complete slacking. Aside from eating and sleeping, Snorlax didn't care about anything else. Trying to get one to focus on training was an exercise in frustration.

However, if one actually managed to train it, a Snorlax was incredibly formidable. Setting aside its other advantages, it was one of the best when it came to taking a hit. Its physical Defense wasn't exceptionally high, but its HP was massive and its Special Defense was excellent, making it a premier tank.

It was hard to take down, but its weakness was glaring: due to its extreme obesity, it was incredibly slow.

After leaving the nursery, Jiang Chen followed Xiao Luoxue and Ling Wanqiu into the mall.

"You two really know how to shop," Jiang Chen muttered, speechless as he stepped out of the mall laden with bags and packages. He was already carrying a mountain of items, and that was even after he'd arranged for a portion of their haul to be delivered ahead of them.

"Shopping with the two of us... you don't look very happy about it," Xiao Luoxue teased.

"What do you mean? I'm thrilled," Jiang Chen replied, his face wearing a stiff, forced smile.

"Look at that painful expression. You call that happy?"

At that moment, Jiang Chen's face looked as though he were in the middle of a grueling ordeal.

"Alright, to tell you the truth, shopping with you two feels like I've lost at least ten pounds. Even a full day of training Pokémon isn't this exhausting."

It seemed to be a talent unique to women; as soon as they entered a mall, their stamina values seemed to max out, reaching levels Jiang Chen felt he could never match.

He set down the bags and arranged for the mall staff to deliver the rest of the items back.

"Let's go eat first. I'm starving," he urged.

Hearing him mention food, the two girls realized they were getting hungry as well.

"I know where the best food is. Follow me," Xiao Luoxue led the way.

They didn't head for a standard restaurant but instead went to the Imperial Capital's Food City. The area was packed with various snacks and delicacies, some of which tasted even better than the fare at high-end restaurants.

After enjoying the meal, they returned to Xiao Luoxue's house. Ling Wanqiu nudged Jiang Chen with her elbow.

"Are we really staying at Xiao Luoxue's place tonight?"

Jiang Chen nodded. He did indeed plan to stay there for the night. Xiao Luoxue's house was certainly big enough to have plenty of spare rooms.

"I feel like it's a bit inconvenient. It's not like you don't have a villa here in the Imperial Capital. Why don't we just head over there instead?"

During their last trip to the capital for the academy exchange tournament, Ling Wanqiu had stayed at Jiang Chen's villa.

"What do you mean inconvenient? I think it's very convenient," Xiao Luoxue suddenly popped up from behind them. "If you really don't want to stay in my house, I can book you a hotel nearby. As long as Jiang Chen stays here, it's fine."

"You scared me! Don't you know you could scare someone to death like that?" Ling Wanqiu shot Xiao Luoxue a look.

"Hmph."

Xiao Luoxue gave her a cold snort. She wasn't about to give Ling Wanqiu any friendly looks now, especially after she suggested taking Jiang Chen away to his villa. To be honest, Xiao Luoxue wasn't comfortable with that idea at all.

If they went there, they would basically be alone together. Even if the villa had a butler and maids, it wouldn't be any different from them living alone in her eyes.

"You're staying at my house today. You aren't allowed to go anywhere," Xiao Luoxue said to Jiang Chen with a hint of possessiveness. "I'm worried that if you leave, you'll be eaten up."

She shot a meaningful glance toward Ling Wanqiu.

Ling Wanqiu was annoyed. You've got it backward. If he stays here, he's the one who's going to get eaten.

Do I really look like I'm worried about being eaten? I'm not the one who would be losing out anyway, Jiang Chen thought privately.

"If you really don't want to stay, I'll book that hotel for you right now," Xiao Luoxue said, her eyes fixed on Ling Wanqiu.

This would be for the best. Her parents weren't coming home tonight. If Ling Wanqiu really went to a hotel, it would just be her and Jiang Chen.

She might even find an opportunity to lock in her relationship with him and turn Ling Wanqiu into the "losing heroine," teaching her once and for all that childhood friends were number one in the world.

"We're best friends, how could I possibly abandon you to stay in a hotel?" Ling Wanqiu replied with a sweet smile.

Xiao Luoxue smiled back, knowing full well Ling Wanqiu wouldn't leave, though a part of her was secretly disappointed.

"The Munchlax egg you bought is hatching."

Jiang Chen's voice broke the tension. A fluffy Munchlax emerged as the shell crumbled to the ground. Although it was called a Munchlax and wasn't particularly tall, its weight was staggering. The chubby fellow was anything but small.

"Mun?"

Munchlax let out a small cry, opened its wide mouth, and began chewing on its own paw. It was an incredibly cute sight.

"Is it hungry already?" Xiao Luoxue looked at it with delight and immediately pulled out some Pokémon food to feed it.

Munchlax's one saving grace was that it wasn't a picky eater. As long as it was edible, it would never refuse. Having just hatched, it began eating with a hearty appetite.

"There's plenty of food, eat a bit slower. Don't choke," Xiao Luoxue said dotingly. She even brought out some High-Grade Pokéblocks, making her Pikachu look a bit jealous.

After stuffing itself, the Munchlax didn't immediately go to sleep. Before evolving into Snorlax, Munchlaxes weren't quite as lazy; they were still relatively active and knew they needed to move around.

"This little guy has great talent. You really got a bargain with this one," Jiang Chen advised. "But don't spoil it too much. While it's still a Munchlax, you should train it often."

If it worked hard now, perhaps its habits would carry over after it evolved into Snorlax. This Munchlax had Elite Four-level talent, and it would be a waste to let that go to waste. If raised properly, a Snorlax was anything but weak. In a head-on collision, its massive frame gave it a huge advantage.

In particular, a move like Body Slam from a Snorlax could crush an opponent instantly. The power of Body Slam increased with the user's weight, and very few Pokémon could rival a Snorlax in that department.

"I'll train it well. I'm not raising it as just a mascot," Xiao Luoxue promised. She needed Munchlax to fight for her in the future.

However, since it had only just hatched, she saw no need to push it too hard yet. For now, she would let it enjoy itself.

At that moment, the Munchlax, patting its full belly, had no idea what kind of future was waiting for it.
