The summer breeze was warm and settling, and as the days flew by, I finally had a chance to settle down with Max, and of course with Allen. It took me some time to get acquainted with this living arrangement with both Max and him, of all people. But after learning the harsh truth of where he was from, and how he and Max met, I chose to welcome him and accept him. Obviously, I was skeptical of guys like him; the reason was having to deal with guy friends like Eliot Hampden. He was the kind of friend who sees things differently and has indeed taken advantage of our friendship; even though I lost my V-card with him of all people, which I kind of regretted. Yet, I've noticed how Eliot was obsessed with me and didn't notice the patterns along the way; I wasn't aware that he had feelings for me.
However, cutting the story short, he and I parted ways. During that time, Rachael needed help getting information that could help locate her biological mother. Meanwhile, Eliot Hampden, of all people, followed me to her home. Out of nowhere, he started rambling about how he felt about me and was eager to make our friendship progress far beyond that, yet he was sort of overpowering and abusive. This left me unease, and I was desperate to get the hell away from him, leaving me no choice but to have the police involved; causing him to officially get expelled by Principle Well's.
Now, coming back to me finally trusting Allen, of all people, was a critical choice I've ever made. What's crazy about all of this, he was the one who found me at a crucial moment and was the reason I wound up reunited with Max again. Not to mention, Allen, having to locate my lost bags and safely returning them to me. Weirdly enough was how neatly he left my clothes, well cleaned and furbished.
But to put icing on the cake, was seeing both Max and Allen gifting me a clean title. A semi-used Ford F-150 pick-up truck; having barely, 100,000 miles on it. Interesting enough was finally having a working A/C, one that barely worked on my old one that I had back then. Not to mention how the Truck's new sound system came with Bluetooth.
I remembered this moment, like it was barely yesterday…
(Flashback)… "Come on, Chloe," Max said, as she was guiding me forward with a blindfold on, not knowing where the hell I was going.
" Max, what the hell!? Just tell me what is going on already?" I shot back, feeling a bit unease of Max surprise.
"UH-UH, it's a surprise…" holding back her giggles.
I can assure that Max was enjoying this moment, by teasing me as she led me carefully outside. However, as the warm winds were pressing my cheeks, and every step I took, I felt this intense anxiety of wanting to know what she has in store for me?
"Ok, Chloe!" She said carefully, "You can take off the blindfold."
Just as Soon as I opened my eyes, the silhouette of a familiar vehicle appeared in front of me. A classic Old Ford F-150, a semi-used pickup truck, was parked neatly in front of our driveway, and right next to it stood Allen as he carefully placed the new keys to this vehicle in my hand.
"Hope you like your new ride." He answered warmly to me.
I felt tears of joy coming out of me, as I studied this amazing vehicle. "Are you guys for real?"
"Uh-huh," Max responded, with a gleeful expression. "We thought of giving you a welcoming gift. Something to remind you of the good old days. Hoping to start a new and just maybe go on another adventurous road trip…just the two of us."
"Oh, Shucks! Thank you, both." I replied, as I embrace them both with love and compassion. Realizing too late, tears of joy forming from my eyes….
Now, coming back to the present time, as I sat there, feeling a bit mesmerized of the well coated leather seats and the fresh smell of a well maintained vehicle, I couldn't stop my excitement. Yet somehow, I decided to finally take this new truck for a spin. And looking back, I now begin to realize what I've been missing all this time, for some reason, I couldn't stop but wonder if whether or not the nightmare I had a few nights ago was real or not. What's crazy about all of this was how I ended up in another critical situation, of encountering someone who had the ability to shapeshift into anyone else, including Max. This stranger who goes by the name of Safi, looks trouble, and sooner or later my encounter with her is far from over. However, I will eventually have to tell Max and the rest of her peers about the situation I had to face soon, and just maybe they may have the answers that I seek.
While trying to have a clear head, I immediately jammed the key onto the ignition and within a matter of seconds… the truck jolted itself to life with a tremendous rumbling sound.
'Broom! Broom! BROOM!!!'
"Fuk, Yeah!" I shouted while changing the gears and pulling myself out of the driveway, "Mama's got herself some fresh new wheels."
Feeling childish and crazy, I immediately jolted forward into the town square; obviously, making sure that no other cars or passersby's were in my way. With my foot on the gas, the truck skedaddled as I accelerated into town, hoping to put my mind at ease for once.
"Woohoo!!!" ...…..
