I excused myself from my seat, and headed for one of the exits. From behind me, I heard the crowd go agog with excitement following the marking of the new Luna. I felt a burning stare from behind me, but it was gone after a few seconds.
None of the pack members noticed that I was leaving.
Or perhaps they did and simply didn't care.
A new mate has been revealed for the twins. One that is true. 'True' brought a bitter taste to my mouth, and I sighed sadly.
The cold night air bit against my skin as I walked past the outer courtyards, my heels clicking against stone paths that had once felt like home.
I should probably return to my bedroom now, and treat myself to a good nap, but I couldn't bring myself to do that. I couldn't return to the same bedroom that was given to me by the same persons who rejected me, and as a mere act of charity. Like I was some charity case.
