"Mrs. Manon! I'm done arranging the remaining boxes!"
Lucian, who had finished organizing the boxes, wiped the sweat from his forehead. The heat had significantly increased in the past few days.
"Oh. My, you finished so quickly?" Mrs. Manon Answered surprised.
"Yes! Now all that's left is to clean the storage and everything will be like new!" he replied enthusiastically.
"Thank you so much, Lucian. I'm sorry to have to ask you for these kinds of favors every now and then..." Her face looked a little disappointed and troubled.
It was true that in recent days, he had been doing more than his job originally demanded, like the time he had to personally deliver a package to a client whose product hadn't arrived at their home, or the time he had to take charge of organizing the storage due to the absence of another person in charge who decided to quit overnight.
In reality, accepting these kinds of favors was nothing to Lucian; after all, they didn't take up much of his time. Although, it was true that it weighed on him a bit.
"It's nothing, Mrs. Manon," he replied cheerfully and nonchalantly. He was looking at her reassuringly, as he didn't want her to feel bad about such favors.
"What you ask of me isn't that complicated anyway."
"Don't be silly. The other day when I asked you for a favor, an hour later I was scared to find you passed out on the floor."
"Hahaha, I was just really tired that time," he rubbed the back of his neck, laughing nervously. "I hadn't been sleeping well those days."
"I know you're a very responsible and disciplined young man, but that's useless if you don't take care of yourself."
"I know... Once I solve all my problems, I won't push myself so hard." This time, his smile vanished, replaced by a somewhat somber expression.
Mrs. Manon, who had noticed, decided to let him be, and after patting him on the back, she said with a comforting look, "Come, I've prepared some fresh tea for us. With this heat, we must always stay hydrated."
"Yes!"
.....
...Knock
...Knock
"Come in."
"Director, the next meeting is about to begin." Secretary Chen peered through the door, waiting for Nathan to take him to the next meeting.
"Okay."
Nathan adjusted his clothes, put on his jacket, and left his office to head to the meeting room.
As they walked down the hallway, someone suddenly put their arm over Nathan's shoulder.
Caught off guard, Nathan reacted and immediately turned around. When he turned with an annoyed look, he was surprised to see a face he had seen before.
"Christian."
"Cousin, you startled me a while ago."
It was his cousin and no matter how much he tried to read Christian's gaze, Nathan couldn't find anything. He indeed only offered him a sincere smile that Nathan found uncomfortable.
Removing Christian's arm from his shoulder with a sigh, Nathan replied, "What do you mean?"
"I mean, at the last meeting, you gave me a cold stare. For a moment, I thought you were really mad at me." His arms were crossed as he reflected.
"Did something happen?"
Nathan, who had been walking at a leisurely pace, suddenly stopped and said indifferently, "No, everything's fine."
"There's no way everything's completely fine. You just got out of the hospital. I was really surprised when I found out you were in a delicate situation."
At his cousin's words, Nathan gave Secretary Chen a look of disbelief. The latter only whispered to him.
"He was worried. He had to know."
"Cousin, tell me the truth."
Suddenly, Christian's tone became much more serious, his face slightly sober.
"What really happened? It wasn't just a simple accident, was it? Ever since you left the hospital, my aunt has been acting a little strange."
Nathan was surprised by the comment. Was his change in behavior truly noticeable? Well, he had lost his memory, so it was natural for him not to act exactly the same, but how exactly was his mother acting to make it suspicious for his cousin?
"It's nothing you need to worry about. I've just been very tired lately. There are many things to sort out." He turned slightly and gave Christian a slight smile.
"If you say so, cousin, I won't worry more than necessary." He also smiled.
"You're heading to the shareholders' meeting, right? Lately, they've been crazy with your absence. It seems they won't let you go so easily this time. One hopes they have at least a shred of consideration, but as you know, everyone here expects you to show the slightest mistake to criticize you, so you have to be more careful now."
Nathan, as he reached out a hand to grab the documents Secretary Chen was reading, finally replied, "Yes. Don't worry, I'm fully aware."
His gaze sharpened once his eyes fell on the information in the documents.
"It's no different from a jungle."
