"That phoenix..."
Tom sensed trouble and immediately drew his wand, casting a spell at Fawkes.
"Avada Kedavra!"
Dark green light shot toward the phoenix Fawkes, but at that moment, Sean let out a low roar, his skin and flesh suddenly tensing. With one hand, he actually hurled his tower shield, spinning through the air to block between Fawkes and Tom's Killing Curse. The curse struck the tower shield, creating a massive dent and sending it crashing down twisted from midair, shattering numerous floor tiles.
Meanwhile, Fawkes instantly rushed to the Basilisk's face. Its sharp claws and beak struck repeatedly, directly blinding both of the Basilisk's snake eyes. Large amounts of black blood flowed from the Basilisk's blinded eyes, splashing around as the Basilisk roared and thrashed its head wildly.
The Basilisk's eyes were blind!
I can do this again!
Sean's left hand once more hefted the chain hammer, and with his tower shield gone, his free right hand drew his wand as he charged at the Basilisk again.
Bang!
The chain hammer swung up, striking the Basilisk's head with a blow that sent scales and blood flying. The blinded Basilisk roared frantically, its massive body crushing toward Sean, following his scent. But just then, Sean's wand waved gently, and immediately two giant hands emerged from the ground, grasping the Basilisk's head and tail from front and back.
At this moment, Sean gritted his teeth hard, leaped up, and jumped onto the Basilisk's head. He bit down on his wand with his mouth, gripped the chain hammer with both hands, and like a madman began hammering continuously at the Basilisk's head.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
The chain hammer struck the Basilisk's head blow after blow, but contrary to Sean's expectations, although the Basilisk's head was battered with flying scales and blood, becoming a bloody mess, its skull was exceptionally hard. Under Sean's continuous bombardment, while it might have caused fractures, that was all—it couldn't inflict fatal damage on the Basilisk!
"Tch, troublesome thing!"
His left hand continued hammering while his right hand freed itself, grabbing the wand from his mouth to cast spells simultaneously.
"Sectumsempra!"
"Sectumsempra!"
"Sectumsempra!"
Hiss, hiss, hiss...
Three consecutive bloody gashes appeared on the Basilisk's mangled head, but they had little effect. The Basilisk's powerful magical defenses couldn't be penetrated by Sean's magic.
"If magic won't work, then I'll keep hammering!"
Gritting his teeth hard, Sean was about to continue wielding the chain hammer when two consecutive explosions rang out. The two giant stone hands that had been restraining the Basilisk, already on the verge of collapse under the creature's struggles, were directly blown apart by Tom. The Basilisk regained its mobility, violently shaking its head. Sean lost his footing and fell from the Basilisk's head, and at that moment, the Basilisk opened its massive maw and bit down toward Sean!
At this moment, Sean couldn't care whether Harry and Tom would notice. Black smoke swirled around his body as he soared into the air, avoiding the Basilisk's deadly bite.
Sean hovered in mid-air, his chain hammer striking hard against the Basilisk's snapping jaws, breaking off half a fang and filling the Basilisk's mouth with blood. Just as Sean's face showed a hint of satisfaction that his attack had finally worked, the Basilisk opened its mouth again, bit down on Sean's chain hammer, and began shaking violently.
Bang!
Under the combined force of the Basilisk and Sean's strength, the chain hammer broke at its middle link. Sean was flung away, landing on the ground surrounded by black smoke without suffering much harm, while the Basilisk shook its head again and spat out the hammer head it had bitten off. Thus, both of Sean's weapons—the chain hammer and tower shield—were once again destroyed.
Meanwhile, Tom waved his wand and completely destroyed the last tape recorder. The rooster crows stopped abruptly, and the Mandrakes were also completely incinerated by Tom's magic. The death symphony ended completely, and the Basilisk was no longer affected by these sounds. It slowly stretched its body and let out a roar in Sean's direction.
Looking at Tom standing behind the Basilisk, Sean grimaced. Just as he was about to draw his wand and go all out, Harry's voice suddenly rang out from behind him.
"Sean, watch out, catch this!"
Hearing Harry's voice, Sean instinctively turned his head, and at that moment, a silver light swept past Sean's cheek, landing at his feet with a ding.
Looking down, Sean immediately recognized what Harry had thrown to him.
Gryffindor's sword!
Golden hilt, silver blade, with a crossguard set with red gems.
This was the sword left behind by Godric Gryffindor, one of Hogwarts' four founders!
Legend said that only those with true Gryffindor qualities were worthy of drawing Gryffindor's sword.
Sean looked at the sword at his feet. For a moment, he wondered if he, a Slytherin, could draw it. But when Sean's hand grasped the hilt, he knew his worries were unfounded.
Ring!
A clear sword song rang out.
Sean gripped Gryffindor's sword with one hand, looked at the Basilisk charging toward him again, gripped the sword with both hands, and struck out fiercely!
Slash...
With one sword stroke, the Basilisk's hard scales and flesh were split apart like clay by Gryffindor's sword. Even the snake bones that Sean had hammered countless times without much damage now bore a sword mark from this single strike.
The Basilisk writhed and roared in agony on the ground. Sean looked at the wound on the Basilisk's body—it looked serious, but it hadn't damaged any vital organs because Gryffindor's sword was really too short.
Looking at Gryffindor's sword in his hand, which bore not a trace of blood, Sean said somewhat helplessly, "If you could be a bit longer, that strike just now could have killed the Basilisk directly. After all this time fighting with a toothpick, no matter how much it hurts, it's useless if you don't hit the vital spots."
Turning to look at the Basilisk, black smoke once again swirled around Sean's body. He wasn't planning to hide anymore—he'd use his flight ability to find the Basilisk's vital points and give it a fatal sword strike, then deal with everything else after finishing off this creature.
With this thought, Sean prepared to take to the air.
But just then, Sean suddenly felt Gryffindor's sword in his hand become heavier, much heavier.
Looking down, Gryffindor's sword had actually grown considerably larger, transforming from a one-handed sword to the length of a two-handed sword.
Stunned for a moment, Sean looked at Gryffindor's sword and muttered to himself, "Don't tell me your full name is Gryffindor's Ruyi Sword...
(TL NOTE: Ruyi Jingu Bang - Sun Wukong's (the Monkey King's) legendary staff that can change size at will, from needle-thin to massive pillar)
But since you can grow bigger, then get even bigger—bigger, bigger, bigger..."
As Sean kept calling for it to grow, Gryffindor's sword became a giant sword three meters long!
Sean gripped the hilt tightly with both hands, looked at the Basilisk charging toward him, and swung the giant sword with tremendous force. Without any fancy flourishes, he struck out with one sword stroke, and the massive Basilisk was separated from its head!
