"You're lying!" Evelyn exclaimed. "You are lying to me. That cannot be so. That is impossible!"
"Evelyn—" Brandon tried to calm her down.
But she cut him off. "Why would father raise me as his own? Why would he do that if I wasn't his real daughter, huh?"
She was raising her voice, losing it.
Brandon looked around in panic. Even if the family knew the truth, the world didn't have any business being aware of this fact. So he stood up, snatched her wrist, and began to drag her away.
"Let go of me!" Evelyn struggled. "Brandon, let go of me!"
But the man wouldn't do so. He dragged her off until they arrived at her office where he shoved her inside and stepped in after, slamming the door shut. He locked it, and even though she was glaring at him with blazing eyes, he took a deep breath.
He ran his fingers through his hair, taking a few moments to calm down, before he looked at her. "You think I'm lying or you are just unwilling to accept the truth?"
