Emiko led them down a different path.
"The first attack was six days ago. Three thrashers emerged during the night and murdered ten people. It was the worst we've seen in a long time. We didn't expect it. By the time the warning bell rang, they had already struck. When we got there, it was too late."
She paused briefly.
"The second attack came two days later. We managed to kill one of the thrashers that time. But yesterday, we arrived too late again, and the other two escaped."
They walked in silence for a while.
"How many casualties last night?" Anwyll asked.
"Five," Emiko replied.
"Who killed the degenerate?"
"Me and a few farmers," Emiko said, earning surprised looks from the group.
"You?" Naya blurted out before she could stop herself.
Emiko cast a glance over her shoulder, her expression unreadable.
