Gringotts was never a place for the faint-hearted, with its labyrinthine tunnels, sharp-toothed goblins, and the air thick with the promise of gold and secrets.
And blood thirsty Goblins.
Tony stood in the marble hall, adjusting the cuffs of his black suit, while Sirius and Remus quietly argued behind him over the protocol of addressing goblins. He's been here before, even open the bank and doing business with Goblins. Honestly, These goblins were besties when it comes to business and even using trickery to get extra cash.
What made Tony respect them is that they didn't hide their greed, Goblins were open with their intention but always used trick in the contract but Tony knew these things like the back of his hand. Still, it wasn't serious.
Goblins respected him for some reason.
"Bet you didn't think your day would end up with you in a magical bank discussing land purchases and blood inheritance, huh?" Johnny grins at Tony.
Tony gave him a flat look, "This week alone I've flown halfway across the world, survived a board meeting, and rebuilt my armour. This is just Tuesday to me."
A goblin in deep green robes, eyes like molten copper, approached, "Mr. Stark, Mr. Black, Mr. Lupin, Mr. Skylar, follow me."
Huh! They didn't even had to wait.
They walked past rows of suspicious wizarding clients, down into a quieter chamber lined with iron-bound doors. The goblin gestured them inside a rune-carved room with a single obsidian table in the center, on which lay an ancient, cream-colored parchment, blank except for a small dropper of silver.
The goblin cleared his throat, "We will proceed with the Inheritance Test as per Mr. Black's request, to clarify claims to the Potter-Stark connection and your potential eligibility for a Wizengamot seat."
Sirius grinned, "Go on, Tony, this will be fun."
Tony arched a brow, "You people and your blood rituals…" He rolled up his sleeve, letting the goblin prick his finger with a silver-tipped dagger, a single drop of blood falling onto the parchment.
Still, Tony did told them he had taken the inheritance test but now that he remembers, he didn't had taken the copy of that and Amelia holds the original for proof.
Immediately, the parchment began to glow, golden script etching itself into the page. Names, family lines, marriages—generations of Potters, Starks, Black and others spiraled across the parchment.
But what made everyone Johnny's jaw drop, Remus stare and Sirius eyes widen was the final words written across the bottom of the parchment:
Anthony Edward Stark: Magical Core Present – Dormant. Awakening detected. Classification: Arcane-Technomagica.
Tony blinked. "Excuse me. What."
"That says you have magic, Tony."
"Arcane-Technomagica? That's not even in the standard magical classification."
The goblin leaned forward, claws drumming lightly on the table, "Mr. Stark, this is…unusual." From what he knows, Mr. Stark was squib, Amelia account manager Skullbrine told him so.
Tony's voice was clipped, eyes darting across the parchment, "Last time I was here, with Amelia, none of this happened"
Sirius shot the goblin a sharp look, "Why now?"
The goblin paused, glancing back at Tony, "Have you experienced a significant magical accident, ritual, or bodily change in the past few months?" Again, it is possible the parchment Skullbrine didn't used wasn't this.
Tony scoffed, "Unless you count nearly dying from palladium poisoning, getting a metal shard ripped out of my chest, and sleeping like the dead for four days, then no."
Johnny seem to connecting the dots. "Tony, when the arc reactor was removed, your body fully healed. That, combined with your unique physiology and the ancient magic in your bloodline, may have triggered an awakening. You might have had a dormant core suppressed by the constant trauma and electromagnetic interference."
Remus mumbled, "Could it be…a fix for a Squib condition?"
Sirius' eyes were alive with disbelief, "You mean we just fixed squibhood by nearly dying?"
Remus shook his head, "It's nonsense. Squib conditions aren't cured like this."
Tony, pale, took a step back, "Okay, you're telling me I suddenly have magic because I had open-heart surgery and a four-day nap?"
Johnny tried to calm him, "Your case is unique, Tony. It's possible your body stabilized in a way that your magical lineage could finally express itself."
The goblin cleared his throat, "Calm yourselves. We have contacts with experts in these matters, but it will take a specialist to evaluate Mr. Stark's core type and how it functions. We can contact them."
Tony pinched the bridge of his nose, "I see... Sure"
The goblin bark a command in Gobbledegook, and another goblin sprinted off. He looks at them. "We have sent a message to the Ancient One."
Tony looked up, "The what now?"
Remus blinked, "You contacted who?"
The goblin's eyes glinted, "The Ancient One. The current Sorcerer Supreme. If anyone understands this classification, it will be them."
"Sorcerer Supreme?!" Sirius, Remus and Johnny were shocked.
"Huh?" Tony looks at them and back at Goblin. "Who now?"
"S-Sorcerer Supreme...is real??"
"Holy shit..."
"Can anyone explain?"
"I...I need to sit"
The goblin straightened the parchment, carefully folding it and placing it into an iron-bound folder. "We will await the response from the Ancient One. In the meantime, you may proceed with your land acquisitions, Mr. Stark, and we will prepare the Potter-Stark claim for the Wizengamot."
As they left the chamber, Sirius was still snickering, Remus was lost in thought about magical genetics, and Johnny was muttering excitedly about "technomagica."
Tony, trailing behind them, ran a hand through his hair, muttering under his breath "You think you've seen everything, then the universe decides to throw wizard powers at you."
————
Sirius was pacing, Johnny was re-reading the inheritance parchment for the fifth time, and Remus was quietly calculating the implications of everything they had learned.
Tony sat with his elbows on the ironwood table, drumming his fingers, trying not to think about how insane his life had become.
"I swear," Tony muttered, "if the next thing that walks in here is a purple alien with a rock fetish, I'm going to quit."
Before anyone could reply, a golden ring of sparks split the air in the room, forming a circular portal, crackling softly with energy.
All four of them jumped, Sirius nearly dropping his wand while Johnny instinctively pulled his wand and took a defensive stance.
From the shimmering circle stepped a bald woman in flowing yellow robes and brown robes, eyes calm and bright as she surveyed the room followed by a tall, solemn man carrying a stack of scrolls and books—Wong.
The portal closed behind them with a soft snap, leaving silence in its wake.
The goblin, who had been in this room with them— unfazed, bowed respectfully. "Sorcerer Supreme, welcome."
Tony gawked, eyes flicking from her robes to her bare scalp to the quiet command in her eyes. "Oh, my God, you look like—"
He cut himself off, remembering the Avatar: The Last Airbender.
The woman's lips curved into a knowing smile. "Like the Avatar, yes. You're not the first to think it, Mr. Stark."
Tony's jaw dropped. "Wait—did you just read my mind?"
The Ancient One chuckled softly, a musical, calm sound. "Not precisely. You wear your thoughts quite loudly. And I do like that cartoon. It's good"
Sirius and Remus, both who had seen many impossible things in the magical world, stood rooted, eyes wide with disbelief.
"The Sorcerer Supreme…" Remus whispered, awe evident.
Sirius elbowed him, "Remus, close your mouth."
Johnny, practical as ever, cleared his throat, "We appreciate you coming, Ancient One. We—well, Tony—need clarification on what this 'Arcane-Technomagica' means."
"That's your bloody reaction?!" Sirius stare at Johnny like he betrayed him.
"What do you want me to do? Kneel?"
Tony, trying to recover his composure, crossed his arms. "Yeah, what he said. And why now? When I was here with Amelia, none of this came up on parchment"
The Ancient One turned to Wong, who handed her a scroll. She flicked it open, golden glyphs spinning across the surface, then turned her gaze back to Tony.
"Anthony Stark, you are the descendant of powerful magical line—Your magical core was dormant, suppressed by your unique physiology and your environment..."
Tony's brow twitched. "So you're telling me all those times I nearly died…"
"Kept your magic locked away, yes." Her gaze softened. "When the arc reactor was removed and your body finally healed, your natural energies realigned. The 'Arcane-Technomagica' classification means your magic is integrated with your technology—unique even among mages."
"How did you—Nevermind" Tony was already having a headache.
Remus rubbed his chin, "Magic tied with machinery?" He glance at Tony.
Tony did create devices that works with Magic, Technomagica makes a lot of sense.
Tony tried to process it, taking in the Ancient One's calm, all-seeing gaze. "So what? I can used magic that works with technology?" Because, Tony already did some impossible things working with magic even when he wasn't aware of having said magic.
She tilted her head, "In essence, yes. You will not wield a wand as others do, but your machines, your intellect, your creations—they will channel your magic in ways you have yet to discover."
Tony's eyes narrowed, mind already racing. "Does this mean I could enchant my suits?" He was planning to ask Sirius and others to help him but if he can indeed do this on his own then he wants to do on his own way.
Wong finally spoke, voice deep, "With proper training, you could weave protective wards, energy enhancements, and other magical properties into your technology. It will require discipline. You were never just meant to be a man of iron, Tony Stark. You were meant to bridge worlds."
"What do you mean...?"
She smiled faintly, "I will help you learn the discipline to access this magic, but your journey will be your own. You are not required to take up the mantle of a sorcerer, but if you wish to protect those you love—including your brother—you will need to understand your new self."
"How much do you know? It is impossible that you know all of this? And goblins cannot tell clients information without their permission"
She chuckled. "You are correct but I have my own source of information. If you want to know further more, I wouldn't mind explaining further"
Tony could tell this Sorcerer Supreme isn't some normal title by the looks on Sirius, Remus and Johnny. And she knows a lot. "All right. I accept"
The Ancient One inclined her head. "I will return to Kamar-Taj to prepare the necessary texts for you. You will receive a summon when you are ready to begin."
She raised her hand, forming another golden portal. Before stepping through, she turned back to Tony, eyes twinkling, "And, Mr. Stark—"
"Yeah?"
She gave him a very Avatar-like smile, "Do try not to blow up New York while practicing."
Tony's jaw dropped again as she and Wong disappeared into the sparks.
Sirius immediately burst out laughing, nearly doubling over, "She has you pegged, mate!"
Remus patted Tony's shoulder, "At least you have something new to focus on."
Tony rolled his eyes, but a smirk tugged at the corner of his lips. "Yeah, yeah. Let's get back to the Tower."
Johnny nods. "We should hurry then, My friend would be there waiting for us"
"Oh! Right, You said you call back up, Who is it?"
"You see"
