Chapter 6 - CHAPTER 6. DARK IMPLOSION.

Moments Before the Dark Implosion

In a cab stuck in slow traffic, a young, average-looking girl was making a phone call to her boyfriend.

–So how was your aunt on the mainland? I hope she didn't break anything important.

"She's alright. She might be a little old, but the doctor said it was a slight fall. She'll survive."

–Okay, that's good to hear. Anyway, where are you now? It sounds a little noisy in the background. Are you stuck in traffic?

"I'm on the Third Mainland Bridge."

–Where are you going?

"Hmm... where I'm going is a surprise."

–A surprise? For me? How so?

"You'll be very surprised... and maybe a little upset too."

–Upset? Are you breaking up with me?

"Calm down. I said I'm going somewhere, not doing anything ecchi."

–You scared me! Come on, don't do that again.

"Hahahaha!"

She laughed, swirling her braids and smiling.

–....

"Why the sudden silence?"

–N...nothing.

"Hmm, what are you doing now?"

–Me? I'm sitting in my room, playing video games and enjoying my weekend. How about you?"

"Still working on that report. You know my course is really demanding, and that lecturer is just a monster."

–And yet you have time to go visiting places.

"Of course! I need some breathing—wait, what is that?"

She paused and held the call. Outside, chaos erupted. People were running, and even the cab driver leapt out and fled in the opposite direction. She turned to look ahead—

She saw it.

Darkness. Closing in.

Everything in its path turned to ash.

Terrified, she reached for the door—but it was locked. The driver had run off in panic, forgetting to unlock the passenger doors.

Not that it mattered.

The darkness was moving too fast.

It swallowed everything in its radius in absolute blackness.

Everything.

---

On the other side – The Island.

A boy with a dark complexion lay on his bed, holding his phone, anxiously waiting for a reply. He had heard vague screams before she placed him on hold.

Though unsure, he continued waiting.

Then—the line disconnected.

It was at that moment he knew something was wrong.

The Adaolisa Williams he knew would never leave him hanging like that. If something had happened, she would have said something.

He tried calling back.

Nothing.

Just an automated message:

"The number you are trying to call is switched off..."

What is going on here?!

He panicked.

This wasn't right.

First, a vague scream.

Then being put on hold.

Now, no contact at all?

No! Something was definitely wrong.

Joshua Ikemba jumped off his bed and immediately rushed out of his room.
