"Why didn't you tell?" Corbin asked. My father had ordered them to take me to the car, he never said I couldn't talk to anyone.
Corbin was standing outside the car, in front of the window, and his expression was one of curiosity mixed with disappointment, his eyebrows furrowed downward.
"Because if I told, I would be dragged back to my father. Then… I was waiting to receive my wolf to finally tell Theron."
He looked at me intently.
"Looks like you didn't tell your ex either. Same reasons?"
I took a deep breath.
"I wanted him to love me for who I was, not for the position I held. As soon as my wolf awakened, he would know. And I hoped he would be my fated mate," I answered and looked down at my fingers. "Clearly, the second part was never going to happen."
"And does that make you sad?" I lifted my face and stared at him. "Are you sad because Alpha Voss wasn't going to be your fated mate, according to you?"
I shook my head.
