SIENNA
"Sienna, if you keep that up, you're going to drill a hole in the floor," Corbin said, and I inhaled as deeply as I could, held my breath, closed my eyes, and emptied my lungs. "Theron will show up any minute."
The problem wasn't Theron coming back, the issue was the king. What if he showed up along with him? What if he insisted on seeing me?
"I want to go home," I said. "Can't you ask Theron if we can leave ahead of time?"
Corbin was about to say something, but then his eyes went distant for a moment. He was being contacted through the mind link. My heart raced, because it could mean bad news.
As soon as the Beta blinked and his eyes focused again, I looked at him, full of expectation. Maybe Theron had asked Corbin to take me ahead to the pack? My hopes were crushed when Corbin's dark eyes looked at me with pity.
"What happened?"
"The king wants to speak with you."
