The defensive barriers protecting the outermost citadel of the Three-Eyes Nation violently rattled. The air of the Lower World, usually thin and serene, was now choking with the metallic tang of dried blood and the stench of death.
"Hold them back!!!" Lola, Queen of the Three-Eyes Nation, and Nioh's Elder sister yelled, her voice carrying the desperate authority of a Queen trying to keep her world from crumbling. Her third eye, positioned squarely on her forehead, was open wide, pulsing with a frantic crimson light as she assessed the battlefield. Below her, on the towering ramparts of the fortress, her royal soldiers opened fire on the waves of monsters rushing relentlessly towards them, which consisted of both long-dead Wendigos and ancient, mutated beasts of unknown eras.
