Sunny froze, his fingers digging into the razor-sharp rock. He slowly turned his head, his heart hammering against his ribs. Hovering behind him, defying the violent winds of the abyss, was the snake-like lightning, staring at him with its eerie-looking eyes.
'I am so fucking dead,' he thought, his body locking up in anticipation of the strike.
But to his surprise, the creature didn't attack. The snake vanished after staring at him for ten seconds, a span of time that was like an eternity to Sunny.
High above the mountain, atop the jagged peak, the God of Death raised an eyebrow at the scene below.
"Why did it let him go free? This hasn't happened before," he muttered in surprise, his red eyes narrowing.
BOOM!!
The thunder rolled, shaking the very foundations of the mountain.
"I knew it won't let him off," the God stated again, watching as the lightning snake materialized once more near the climbing mortal. But to his shock, just as it coiled to strike, it vanished.
