Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

Hayley's Pov

His eyes were glaring harshly at the entrance of the door, I didn't think he'd flare up at the thought of Stella being in the house. He was always with them. I chuckled, and walked right behind him, watching him storm inside the room.

I took a seat on the couch and began playing with the keys Camilla left on the table.

"Camilla!" Enzo yelled from up the stairs, I looked up to see him walking aggressively. "Stella?" He called out.

I nodded my head to the sides, wondering if the three of them would ever step out of their childish play. There was no significance of their relationship and it became something I was curious about.

Stella stepped out behind me and sat on the couch, "You told him I was here?" She asked, almost feeling betrayed.

"Yeah, I did but not directly. You gave me a hard time at the party and here also, how do you expect me not to complain? And you've got to stay away from me, or you'll be forced to leave the pack." I warned, clearly figuring the tension between us.

"You know…." She began, "I didn't think you'd turn this way, Hayley. You were always so obedient and a pick-me." she paused, her freckled hands rolled a strand of my hair, my irritation was rising.

I sniffled, and grabbed her hands off my head, "I don't have any deals with you, if you can't treat your alpha's wife with respect, you need to be taught a lesson. Do I seem like the old Hayley? Uh?"

Stella took a step back, sensing the harshness in my voice and scoffed. "Just wow." She uttered and vanished.

A few minutes after, Enzo walked back down the stairs with Camilla and with loads of bag. He held my hand and pulled me closer, "We're leaving, I'll deal with Stella later." He said, and took the first step but I wasn't having it.

"Why wouldn't you just deal with her now? If you don't, I'll do that myself. I don't want a nitwit running around the pack or my surroundings when I have better things to do. Who is she to you anyway? I still haven't seen her worth since I got here and all you do is take her side. Are you afraid of her? Is there something you're keeping to yourself?" I hurled, my voice straining from the highness of my voice. Enzo stared at me and I let the rest of words on my mind, "She's clearly not supposed to be here, but she happened to be and you're just going to shut it off?" I scoffed and stormed out of the house, headed for the car and sat in there quietly, waiting for the drive.

I got a better view of the safe house properly, the sun was shining right on the roof and it was just loads of leaves. Nothing ethereal about it, but something definitely secret.

The trees planted up the height of the roof, and the area covered in web. Immediately I stepped out, everything cleared off and I went out with no issue. As soon as I completely stepped away a bit, it went back to looking like an abandoned home dumpster.

"So much for a safe house." I murmured, patiently waiting for Ezno to step out of the house. Seconds turned into minutes and Enzo wasn't out yet. I sent a text but he still didn't show up.

I was forced to go check on him but then he was calmly stepped out of the leaves blocked areas. His eyes scanned the area before he took another step forward, Camilla followed behind. She held her glasses and walked with the aura she always had.

My first thought about her was her being a bitch, but I couldn't deny our growing friendship.

What was I saying? Camilla was just following orders. I shut off the thought that someone might actually have a little sense of honor here. My thoughts spiralled as I saw Lorenzo walk closer, "he could be the bait for me to mess up Lucian." I thought. The car door got opened and Enzo stepped into the driver seat, Camilla smiled at me and fixed a seat for herself also.

Enzo drove off without saying a word and I heard a beep five times before finally leaving the deserted area. Camilla wouldn't stop talking as he drove.

"I think Stella would be back at the pack and you can punish her for stepping beyond her limit. Hayley can keep her punishment to herself and just rest, who knows when Lucian would attack again? I can't believe we have a weak Luna."

I rolled my eyes and she patted my shoulder, "No offense, Hayley."

The whole pack looked peaceful than it was the night before. As we alighted from the car, different welcome was passed on and I felt like a queen that I once was. For a few seconds, I felt the crown and the luxurious beadings on me. I snapped out of it when Camilla patted my shoulder again, "You should come in, you look swayed." She said, and passed the bag to the maids around.

I wasn't bothered by Enzo's silence and I couldn't cared less about what was going on his mind. He was probably thinking about punishing Stella, what do I care? As long as she doesn't interrupt my own impart on my life.

He suddenly stopped and looked at me, "Meet me in the room when you're done changing." He said, more like a command and I was going to feel pissed but I melted.

That wasn't supposed to happen, was it the pain I felt in his voice? Or the calmness he portrayed?

Gosh! I was losing my mind. I took a step further and found the whole house more cleaner than it was, and I was approached by one of the old maids as her uniform had implied.

My husband was like, the most influential and wealthy man in the whole of New Orleans but he had rivals, one of which I hope to bring down sooner.

The maids eyes searched mine and she finally spoke, "Let me lead you to the bath I set up for you, milady." She addressed me politely but not the right way. I chuckled and moved closer to her ears, "I'm more than that." I whispered and followed her lead with a smile.

It was a new day to haunt Lucian down, while I start with gathering allies.

I didn't know who was going to be first, but I knew the first thing to do.
