Chapter 6 - Three Vs One

Irene's dreams were odd, odder than usual, involving the human that had just helped me. There was lightning and a big wolf with pitch black fur looking at me. There were also visions of a war, witches, wolves, be it a rogue or from a pack, though she had no clue what pack. It was so vivid she felt like a spectator. There were packs destroyed, fire, men, women, and children dead. "Find it, find the red-eyed wolf, it has awakened. Find them, and destroy them! We cannot let it live! Kill any that stand in our way!" A voice exclaimed in her dream.

Irene woke up to the sound of growls and a nasty smell. Rogues, she thought, growling. She sensed the human behind her and stood to protect him, though as she lunged at the rogues she heard him running for his life, she felt a pang in her heart but understood at the same time, she sighed.

Why did my fated have to be a human? They have to be handled so delicately when it comes to this stuff... this is going to be difficult. I hope the moon goddess knows what she's doing, pairing me with a human, especially given my level of patience. She thought to herself with a hint of annoyance. "Mate is a mate, human or not, trust the goddess." Mazie replied to her thoughts. I know, I know, I do, I'd never reject my mate, it's just, I don't have the patience to handle a human and I don't want him to end up getting hurt or scared because I run out of patience and do something too early. Irene replied.

She let the human run since she couldn't do anything to help him get away anyways and needed to deal with these wolves, as these were rogue wolves, and she couldn't let them get too close to the pack given their obvious hostility. Some rogues were fine and civil, others were cruel pieces of garbage, and others have become completely feral.

She quickly took out the first rogue, grabbing it by the neck and shaking violently till she heard a snap, quickly jumping back as one of the three that remained jumped at her, as she landed one of the other two nipped at her hind leg, making her yelp before she kicked him hard in the face with her other hind leg, the idiocy made it clear these rogues were feral, not to smart on fighting, so it should be easy for her to deal with these rogues, not to say they weren't dangerous in number, but she was a pure alpha wolf, these small fry would do as much damage as a non-venomous snake

She grabbed the leg of the one in front of her as hard as she could, hearing a crunch sound and tasting blood in her mouth before flinging it into a tree with a loud crunch and the sound of splintering wood, with its back probably broken now. It was down but most likely not dead. Some of these rogues were good people, but solitude left their wolves not only become wild, but their mental fortitude was probably too weak to keep their wolves in check and civil.

Well, there were hundreds of reasons for how one would go feral, but still, some of these feral wolves could have been good people and just left their packs with nowhere to go because of conditions and, well, just many reasons. She didn't know whether they were once good or bad, so she planned to kill it so it wouldn't suffer after she dealt with the third one, which attempted to flee knowing it was outmatched. But she was faster, tackling it and giving a single claw strike to its throat, killing it instantly before turning to the one that lay there paralyzed and doing the same, putting it out of its misery. May these wolves live a better life in their next one. She mentally prayed before turning to follow the strong yet nice scent of the human she knew had helped her.

Irene walked cautiously in case there were more. Feral werewolves also travel in packs as well, so it was likely there were more. She came across a bloody scene. There was a wolf on the ground with the back of its neck torn apart down to the bone, granted the tearing wasn't very wide, but it was enough to kill the poor thing.

"Mate is strong!" Mazie exclaimed in her mind. She smelled for the human, seeing him on the ground, labored breathing, seemingly unconscious, deep gashes in his sides and chest and what seemed to be a bite mark on his shoulder.

Brilliant crystal blue eyes widened in worry. We need to get him to the pack hospital! She exclaimed mentally before gently getting him onto her back so as not to cause further injury or worsen his condition. "Come on! Stay alive! There is no guarantee I'll find a second chance mate!" Irene exclaimed, not that she wouldn't have tried saving him even if he was a regular human.

She ran as fast as she could, it did feel nice having his body against hers, but this was not the time to think about comfort and any of these little nuances. Shaking her head, she focused on the task at hand, running as fast as she possibly could. Seeing the pack in sight, she almost lept in joy. She could feel the human's pulse fading slowly. Nope, you are not ready to die yet, you will live. She thought as if that'd have any effect on whether he would live or die.

She dodged around a patrol guard and ran into the pack in a blur of silver-white furr, whizzing past any who looked at her, which she probably would draw gazes with werewolves' exceptional sense of smell, even in human form. They'd recognize her as the pack heir, and also the scent of a human was there as well, with the metallic scent of blood.

As she ran through she dodged and weaved around pack members, not caring who she bumped into and also being careful not to drop the person she was carrying on her back. She burst into the pack hospital and mind linked loudly to someone in the hospital with alpha command in her voice. "SOMEONE TAKE THIS MAN TO THE BEST ROOM YOU HAVE!!!" She ordered.
