Chapter 3: Is the Target a Bargain to Pick Up?

Gu Fengchuan fled once again.

"Aunt Wang, is it true that the wealthy family recognizes their relatives? Are you really not going back? A family with 50 billion in assets?" Aunt Wang asked quietly.

Xu Youyou shook her head. "What's the point of going back? He's so stingy, I don't even want to bother with him."

Aunt Wang sighed. "It's fine if you don't want to return, but he doesn't really seem like your brother."

Xu Youyou immediately perked up. "Aunt Wang, you know a lot. Why do you say that?"

"Well," Aunt Wang said, "When a family recognizes their relatives, everyone usually comes together. You must have an older brother, but it feels like you're being ignored."

Xu Youyou gave a thumbs-up. "Aunt Wang, your insight is amazing!"

Aunt Wang was pleased by the praise, but she still studied Xu Youyou's face and asked, "Xiao Xu, don't you feel uneasy about all this?"

"What's there to be uneasy about? I was an orphan before, and I'll still be an orphan," Xu Youyou replied matter-of-factly.

Aunt Wang nodded. "If you don't want to recognize your relatives, that's your choice. But if they offer you money, don't be stupid and refuse it like you did today. Auntie has been around the block enough to know—when dealing with people, don't go against money."

Xu Youyou nodded emphatically. "Aunt Wang, don't worry. What I love most right now is money!"

Seeing she understood, Aunt Wang relaxed and asked, "Xiao Xu, are you really moving out?"

Although Xu Youyou lived in a city village, Aunt Wang's rent was cheap and convenient. When Xu Youyou said she wanted to cancel the lease, Aunt Wang gladly refunded the deposit. Xu Youyou was a neat tenant and hardworking at her job, making her landlord reluctant to see her go.

"I've found a better place," Xu Youyou said.

Aunt Wang didn't ask more and took the keys from her. "I'll see you downstairs."

After leaving the village, Xu Youyou put the incident with Gu Fengchuan behind her. Now with money in hand, she took a taxi straight to her new destination:

Tangchen Yipin!

Xu Youyou had heard of Tangchen Yipin before. In her previous life, she never expected to receive such a luxurious apartment in Shanghai just for completing a task! Would she get such a valuable reward every time she bargained?

"Because this was your first mission, and you had no real estate in your name, the reward was extra generous," the system explained.

Xu Youyou quickly asked, "What about future rewards?"

"Confidential."

"Is the property really in my name?" she asked silently.

"Don't worry. The system legally registered the house under your name through proper channels. The property certificate is inside the apartment, it's fully furnished, and you can move in with just your luggage."

The system was definitely not stingy. The house given to Xu Youyou was a large 1,200-square-meter flat—the crown jewel of Tangchen Yipin—worth over 400 million yuan on the market.

In her previous life, when Gu Xueying got married, her fiancé gifted her a 600-square-meter Tangchen Yipin apartment valued at about 200 million yuan, which drew a lot of envy.

The taxi arrived, and Xu Youyou stared at the grand golden letters above the gate: "Tang Chen Yipin." Her heart fluttered nervously, but she steeled herself and walked in.

In the novel, the guards ignored low-status visitors. But here, a guard stopped her politely and asked if she had an appointment.

"I'm the owner of Building X, Floor X. My name is Xu Youyou. You can verify," she said.

The guard checked and became friendlier. "Since you haven't registered with property management, your access is restricted. Would you like to apply for facial recognition now?"

Xu Youyou followed the property staff to register her face and received an elevator card.

After all that, the shuttle bus took her to her building. Stepping off the elevator, she immediately noticed the ultra-luxurious front door.

Worried about how to enter, the system suddenly chimed in:

"Host, your facial fingerprint has been entered into the gate's recognition system."

Standing before the door, she heard a soft "click" and the door swung open quietly.

She took a deep breath and stepped inside.

"This…" Xu Youyou passed through the entrance hall and saw a huge floor-to-ceiling window with an unobstructed view of the Huangpu River.

Is this really the King of Buildings?

She sank onto a soft sofa in the living room, finally relaxing the tension in her body.

"Second bargaining mission started. Please follow the instructions to the target location."

Xu Youyou was excited—more money coming!

She was about to hail another taxi but the system instructed her to leave Tangchen Yipin immediately.

Following the system's directions, she wandered around the community. When the instructions told her to stop, she realized why.

"Tell me honestly, are you a bargaining system or a garbage collection system?" Xu Youyou asked.

"What trash? Trash is just a baby put in the wrong place!"

The trash bins in Tangchen Yipin were exquisitely designed to blend harmoniously with the community's environment.

No matter how beautiful, they were still trash bins.

Pinching her nose, Xu Youyou moved closer—then heard a dog barking.

A dirty yellow puppy poked its head out from behind one bin, its big wet eyes looking pitiful.

The system's instructions turned to point at the puppy.

Is this the target to pick up?

Though puzzled, Xu Youyou approached slowly, her expression softening.

She loved dogs. When she lived in the orphanage, stray dogs liked her too. But life was hard then; the orphanage's headmistress barely had enough to care for the kids, let alone a dog.

The puppy was small, somewhat like a corgi but skinnier and scruffier.

Not a valuable breed, but Xu Youyou decided to take it in after looking into its sad eyes.

The puppy didn't resist her touch, and she finally stroked its head. Its fur was rough and thorny from being neglected.

"Good dog, want to come home with your sister?" Xu Youyou asked gently.

The puppy let out a soft bark.

"You agreed! Great! Sister will buy you dog food right now!" Xu Youyou smiled happily.

She took the puppy to the nearest pet hospital, gave it a bath and vaccinations, and bought a kennel, toys, and dog food based on the vet's recommendations. She even got a dog license for it.

The pet hospital was surprisingly expensive, but Xu Youyou had over six million in her bank account now and was happy to spend it on her new furry friend.

"Good, sister will take you home~" Xu Youyou said as she walked back to the community with the puppy on a leash.

Now that her face was in the recognition system, the guard didn't stop her. But he muttered under his breath, wondering why Miss Xu always walked in and out instead of driving such a rich lady.

Xu Youyou happily entered the community with her dog, unaware that just behind her, the entrance gate was slowly lifting as a black Rolls-Royce Phantom rolled in.

"Mr. Lu, we're already in talks with Yunsheng Holdings. I believe a partnership won't take long," Assistant Liu reported diligently.

Lu Jingyao nodded absentmindedly, eyes scanning outside as if searching for something, then suddenly fixed his gaze and said:

"Park the car."
