Chapter 13 - Episode 12: The mirror in the flame

—A trickster's blood burns when fate gets too quiet .

Night Before the Match – Jin's Dorm

Jin sat alone by candlelight, flipping through a small, tattered journal.

It was all he had from his mother, who died when he was ten.

Every night, he read the same line:

> "Your father was no god… he was something far worse—smarter."

He'd been secretly using academy access to search archives, sealed scrolls, divine relic records.

But still—no name.

No location.

Just whispers of a "Laughing Flame" who tricked even the Celestial Council.

> "One day, old man," Jin muttered, "I'll find you.

And when I do, I'm gonna punch you. Then maybe ask why I'm cursed."

He tucked the journal beneath his bed.

During the Match Setup

Jin stared at Xie Luan across the arena.

Bo Lang whispered, "Yo, you good? You seem…"

> "Focused."

Jin smirked. "I'm getting closer to something."

"Something?"

> "My dad."

After Jin's Flames Ignite

The black flame in his hand flickered strangely.

It laughed.

A faint, echoing chuckle only Jin could hear.

He froze.

> "No… it can't be…"

The Laughing Flame.

The trickster power that even the gods feared.

It was his bloodline—calling back to him.
