Chapter 43 - CHAPTER 43

[Guild] Manaoringnam: Ah lololol

[Guild] Manaoringnam: Dang, Danghani planned something fun lololol

[Guild] JeoJolryeoyo: Did the ult start?

[Guild] Manaoringnam: Yup lol 1 minute 32 seconds left

[Guild] JeoJolryeoyo: Okie

[Guild] TheHunter: No seriously, if you were gonna do it, you should've put real people on guard duty

[Guild] TheHunter: Am I right?

[Guild] Staeric: lolol

[Guild] Staeric: Agreed

Currently, Manaoring was hiding in the corner at the 12 o'clock direction on the eastern side, casting their ultimate skill. Just in case, for safety, I asked TheHunter and Staeric to guard Manaoring.

It was one of the spots where the Fever Guild's mages could be hiding, and it was definitely an optimal location for secretly preparing something.

"The plan itself is solid."

The Elemental Mage's ultimate skill was powerful, but just as hard to pull off properly.

That's why most players didn't use it in the chaotic mess that was the preliminaries. But in this situation, it was definitely worth a try.

Up until now, we hadn't used the Elemental Mage's ultimate skill while defending the central city of Veritas in the prelims simply because not many users gathered at the West Gate.

The West Gate was originally the farthest from the center, and the terrain was complicated, so it never received much attention. Naturally, fewer enemies gathered there compared to other gates, and powerful classes like the Elemental Mage were usually stationed at more critical locations.

However, with more than 40 enemies gathered at the West Gate like now, the Elemental Mage's ultimate was a perfect fit. Of course, it took over two minutes to cast, so the penalty for failure would be big... but we were in a favorable position, so the risk wasn't too concerning.

[Guild] JeoJolryeoyo: I'll try to keep them from getting inside as much as I can

[Guild] JeoJolryeoyo: But just in case some sneak in

[Guild] JeoJolryeoyo: If you get attacked, type in chat and I'll support immediately

[Guild] JeoJolryeoyo: Protect Oring-nim as best you can

[Guild] Staeric: No worries

[Guild] TheHunter: Honestly, I can beat most of them lolol

[Guild] Staeric: For real lololol

[Guild] Staeric: Fever guys suck at the game anyway;

[Guild] Mochabread: You're spitting facts ㅇ.ㅇ lol

[Guild] Mochabread: By the way, is our guild leader maybe Jolryeo-nim?

[Guild] Mochabread: Your leadership is insane?

[Guild] DrinkSomeWater: That's a great take.. ^^

[Guild] ParkSeungjin99: LOLOLOLOLOL

[Guild] Ssesesehajago: LOLOLOLOL

[Guild] Haeren: I agree.. ^^

After confirming that all preparations were complete, I saw how the gauge had noticeably slowed down and headed toward the West Gate with Yuchae.

As Yuchae and I returned to the front line, Sanggwanhan began charging in with a group of Fever Guild members from the other side. I smirked and started up the same video recording program I used before.

"If you were going to copy a solid plan, you should've done it properly."

Sanggwanhan and the Fever Guild members, thinking we'd never try the same plan they had tried before, came charging with excitement — and it was laughable.

Standing side by side with Yuchae, we calmly watched as they approached, and once they were close enough, I typed in the chat.

[Guild] JeoJolryeoyo: Now

[Guild] Manaoringnam: Prayer meta complete…

As soon as Manaoring repeated the exact line they used in the arena, rumble — with a deafening roar, dark clouds quickly gathered in the sky, and the ground shook. Sanggwanhan flinched upon hearing it and quickly tried to change direction, but it was already too late.

Splitting through the black clouds, a massive meteor came crashing down at incredible speed. Fever Guild members, like Sanggwanhan, realized it was Meteor far too late and scattered, trying to flee, but escaping outside the blast radius was impossible.

BOOOOOM—!

The meteor smashed into the ground with force that shook the screen. Flames erupted violently, and Fever Guild members collapsed en masse.

Even the users who barely dodged the meteor were left in poor condition and soon died from the lingering damage-over-time. Every second of it was vividly captured on the recording I had prepared.

The Chojunyeok Guild has gained 10 points!

The Chojunyeok Guild has gained 10 points!

The Chojunyeok Guild has gained 10 points!

The Chojunyeok Guild has gained 10 points!

The Chojunyeok Guild has gained 10 points!

The Chojunyeok Guild has gained 10 points!

The kill log kept rolling nonstop, and the previously stagnant gauge quickly filled up to 99%.

"Whoa, damn. That's seriously strong."

"Man, that felt good."

Muljom and Haeren, who had been watching the Meteor fall with me, each gave their own reactions. Watching forty characters get wiped out in an instant was undeniably satisfying.

"Wait? Isn't that Danghani?"

At that moment, someone staggered to their feet among the fallen users. Clad entirely in white from head to toe—it was Danghani.

It seemed he had somehow survived using the Warlord's evasion skill and defensive gear, but even so, he had only about 10% HP left. Holding the staff I had reclaimed from MelodyCode earlier, I approached him.

[Global] JeoJolryeoyo: Wow

[Global] JeoJolryeoyo: You actually dodged that?

I copied the exact lines Danghani had typed at me back when he stole my staff. As his HP continued to drop from the damage-over-time, Danghani fired back without backing down.

[Global] Danghani: Don't talk sht you f**ing bastard lolol

[Global] JeoJolryeoyo: Why are you mad lol

[Global] JeoJolryeoyo: It's just a game

[Global] JeoJolryeoyo: You're really deep in roleplay huh..

I deliberately cast the weakest skill I had. The gem on my staff lit up with a blue glow.

[Global] JeoJolryeoyo: Ah

[Global] JeoJolryeoyo: That was a cool plan

[Global] JeoJolryeoyo: Thanks for letting me use it

With that, I cast the skill at Danghani. Crack! Hit squarely by the spell, Danghani's character was blown back and collapsed—dead.

The Chojunyeok Guild has gained 10 points!

All progression points have been filled!

The preliminaries have ended!

You have successfully defended the city from the Fever Guild!

As soon as Danghani died, the gauge filled completely, signaling the end of the preliminaries.

I had reclaimed my staff and gotten my revenge—an utterly perfect victory.

[MelodyCode: What the hell]

[MelodyCode: So it was yours all along??]

[JeoJolryeoyo: Yeah]

[MelodyCode: What the fk, wait a sec]**

After wrapping up the preliminaries against the Fever Guild, I finally had a proper conversation with MelodyCode. When I explained that the staff had originally belonged to me, MelodyCode sounded completely dumbfounded.

[MelodyCode: So you're telling me]

[MelodyCode: The only reason I got slaughtered over and over was that damn staff?]

[JeoJolryeoyo: Yep]

[MelodyCode: lol

[MelodyCode: That's f*ing ridiculous hahah]**

[JeoJolryeoyo: lol]

I could totally understand MelodyCode's reaction. He was just an unwilling victim who got dragged into this mess.

But that didn't mean I had to feel bad about it. After all, the ones truly at fault were the Fever Guild members who ignored my guild invite and killed me to steal the staff.

More importantly, since MelodyCode never wanted the staff in the first place, I was doing him a favor by reclaiming it. In the end, it was a win-win for both of us.

[JeoJolryeoyo: Should've joined the right guild, huh?]

[MelodyCode: lololol]

[MelodyCode: You're not wrong, but damn you're annoying.. haha]

[MelodyCode: Honestly, your guild isn't exactly

[MelodyCode: normal either, right?]

[JeoJolryeoyo: lololol]

[JeoJolryeoyo: At least here,

[JeoJolryeoyo: we don't have any creeps obsessed with girls.]

[MelodyCode: Ohh..

[MelodyCode: That's fair too,

[MelodyCode: but still pisses me off, f* lol]**

[JeoJolryeoyo: And what about you?

[JeoJolryeoyo: Are you gonna stay there?]

[MelodyCode: Nah]

[MelodyCode: I'm leaving right after prelims]

[JeoJolryeoyo: lolol

[JeoJolryeoyo: Smart move]

MelodyCode and I decided not to bother removing each other from our friends list.

After all, thanks to him, I got my staff back easily and was able to learn about the Fever Guild's plans. From my guild's point of view, he was actually quite a helpful ally.

[MelodyCode: Hey]

[MelodyCode: You might wanna be a little careful?]

[JeoJolryeoyo: ?]

[MelodyCode: I'm looking at guild chat right now,

[MelodyCode: and it looks like they're trying to start something over you taking my staff?]

[JeoJolryeoyo: What do you mean "start something"?]

[MelodyCode: It's just coming up now,

[MelodyCode: so I dunno what they're gonna do yet..

[MelodyCode: But they asked how I lost the staff,

[MelodyCode: and I said you kept killing me till I dropped it.]

[JeoJolryeoyo: Yeah]

[MelodyCode: So I figure they might try to make an issue out of that?]

Ah, so now Fever knows that I deliberately kept killing MelodyCode to get the staff back.

"Well, if that's all it is, it's not really a problem."

It wasn't like I hadn't expected this outcome from the start.

The Fever punks were acting exactly how I thought they would. Honestly, it was getting boring.

I touched my lips, collecting my thoughts, then started typing without hesitation.

[JeoJolryeoyo: Got it]

[JeoJolryeoyo: But don't worry about it lol]
