It's just temporary—but I can change my face. I guess it helps online, huh? I discovered this recently, so I'm testing it out, seeing how my acquaintances react.
Class is about to start. There's a lot of noise behind me—it's our first day, but you'd think it was already the last quarter. Why are they all this loud?
"Yo! I didn't think we'd still be classmates this year, Noah!" Amiel called out as he walked in.
Amiel, with his brown skin and easy smile, stands around 5'7" in the school's standard uniform. Noah, light-skinned and just as tall, mirrors him in height and outfit—though his posture's a bit more laid-back.
Noah and Amiel were my classmates last year. They're close—like brothers. They helped me a lot, too… though I still don't know how to start a conversation with them.
"This will be the best year, dude!" Noah laughed.
"Woah—your face, Kira?!"
"Wait... that's Kira??" Noah asked, confused.
(So they recognized me, huh.)
From the back of the room, a new face caught Amiel and Noah's attention.
"Woah, it's a transfer!"
"Yo, c'mon—sit up front, dude!"
"I was about to."
"Sit next to Kira—he's shy, but he's a good guy."
"I was about to sit here anyway. My vision's kinda blurry. Name's Ash, by the way." Ash said, setting his things down beside me.
Blurry vision too, huh? Ash looks plain—his eyes seem dead. He's about my height, maybe a little shorter.
"Bad eyesight? Then this is the best spot," Noah grinned.
We sit near the windows. It's hot here. Wind is the only way to cool off.
"Hoy, it's our teacher—he's coming!" a couple of students shouted, rushing to their seats.
Damn. I feel like last school year is about to repeat itself.
(The instructor starts discussing everything important for this school year.)
And just like that... the hellish classes begin.
