Chapter 13 - The Man Behind the Card

Brian sat alone in his car, staring at the warehouse from a distance. The chaos he had triggered last night was still echoing through the city. Jason and Lisa were being dragged through every major news outlet, their pictures plastered with headlines screaming of fraud, betrayal, and public disgrace. But Brian knew that behind the power he now wielded, behind the secrets that had brought him here, stood someone else—someone who handed him the key, or rather, the card.

His phone buzzed.

A message.

"Meet me. Same warehouse. Midnight."

No name. No signature. But he knew.

---

The warehouse looked different tonight. Quiet. Still. Not a single soul in sight except for a tall figure standing in the shadows near the door.

Brian stepped out of his car. "You again," he said, his voice steady but curious. "Why help me?"

The man stepped into the light. A strong jawline, sharp features, dressed in a charcoal suit that whispered wealth and danger. Brian's eyes narrowed.

"You look familiar."

"I should," the man replied, a faint smirk tugging at his lips. "I'm Alexander Stone. I used to work for your father."

Brian's heart skipped. "My father? My mom never said—"

"Because she was protecting you. Your father… was a genius in business, but he made powerful enemies. One of them was Lisa's father. They stole everything from him. From you."

Brian's fists clenched.

Alexander continued. "Before your father died, he handed me something. A file. Evidence of how Lisa's family orchestrated his downfall. I waited until you were ready… until I saw that spark in you. That night, I gave you the card and watched you walk into your legacy."

Brian was silent, thunder crashing inside his soul.

"So, this was all revenge?" he asked.

"No," Alexander said. "This is justice."

He handed Brian a USB. "Everything you need to finish what you've started is in here. Financial records. Legal traps. Witness testimonies. Enough to destroy Lisa's family name forever."

Brian took the USB, gripping it like a sword.

"What do you want in return?" he asked.

Alexander's smile was cold. "Just one thing. When you rise—and you will—I want in. A seat beside you. I helped build your father's empire. Let me help rebuild yours."

Brian didn't answer immediately. The wind howled around them like the ghosts of the past.

Then, he nodded. "Deal."

They shook hands.

---

As Brian walked back to his car, he glanced once more at the USB in his hand. This wasn't the end. It was only the beginning.

Jason and Lisa thought they were dealing with a powerless, poor son-in-law. But now, he was a storm, a reckoning.

And the world was about to remember the name Brian Lancaster.

Back at Jason's villa, he paced nervously, his phone pressed to his ear.

"Everything's falling apart!" Jason yelled.

"Relax," said a cold female voice on the other end. "It's not over yet."

Jason frowned. "Who are you?"

The voice laughed softly. "Let's just say… you've been playing a game designed by someone else. And I've been watching."

The call ended.

Jason's face turned pale. In the shadows behind him, a familiar figure stepped out—someone very close to Lisa.
