Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

"Rinngggg!"

Hmm.

He dipped his head slightly.

No, I didn't look at him.

I didn't need to. I could just sense what he was doing. That strange awareness… I always knew.

"The ring is on the vanity. Bring it and put it on me."

I stepped forward, eyes flicking to the vanity table.

Yup — the ring was there, just sitting like it wasn't one of the most important things today.

Yup — the ring was there, just sitting like it wasn't one of the most important things today.

Seriously? Who leaves something like this just lying around?

I picked it up and walked to him, gently grabbing his wrist and extending his hand forward.

"Should I turn around?" he asked innocently.

"No."

"I'll keep my eyes closed, then."

Ugh. He was so stubborn.

Fine. Let's play by his rules for once.

"Alright, but place your other hand over your eyes too."

"Ok".

He raised his hand over his eyes but paused before turning.

"But how do I know you're not looking at me?"

Tch. Good point.

Rules were for both of us.

"I'm not looking. Promise."

"You close your eyes too!"

"Then how will I slip the ring on you?"

"Don't violate the rules, dear wife."

Ugh. This man.

"Hmmph. Fine, fine! My eyes are closed!"

Now I didn't know what he was doing. I couldn't see his face, didn't know if he was smiling, laughing, or just standing there clueless.

All I saw was darkness.

I held his hand carefully and slid the ring on his finger.

"Now?" he asked.

What now?

"Now what?"

"Don't I get to put a ring on my bride too? Otherwise, this whole ceremony feels incomplete."

That was all it took for both of us to burst into laughter.

I still couldn't believe he agreed to all my silly rules — no peeking, no breaking the distance.

And yet, at that moment, slipping that ring on his finger… it really did feel like we were getting engaged.

After that, I went back to the vanity and started getting ready.

We weren't going anywhere fancy — just dinner at home — so I only needed a soft, casual look.

I dried my hair, my eyes flickering now and then to the mirror, where his reflection casually appeared.

I wasn't trying to look. But well, technically, I wasn't looking directly at his face.

He was removing his watch, then sprayed on his perfume.

Yeah... I was totally watching every move.

No doubt — he looked amazing.

I love him. I really do.

I applied some mascara and a light blush.

"I'm ready. Heading to the lounge."

"Okay, darling!" I replied.

I continued my finishing touches.

One thing about me — I always put on lipstick last, after I've worn my dress.

Now it was time to dig into my little treasure chest.

I walked over to the wardrobe. Usually, I wear traditional clothes. But today…

Today felt different. I just knew I had to wear that dress.

I saw it once and fell in love immediately. So much so that the shopkeeper raised the price when he saw my excitement. Ugh.

Forget it. Think happy thoughts.

Okay, time for a little description:

It's an off-shoulder, front-slit dress with a shiny, almost magical fabric that hugs my figure perfectly.

And that's the best part — it fits like it was made for me.

I locked the door and somehow managed to get into it without ruining my hair or mood.

When I looked at myself in the mirror…

I looked... beautiful.

Not just okay, not just decent — beautiful.

The dress complimented my skin tone like it was chosen by the heavens. Not oversized, not tight. Just… perfect.

It gave main character vibes.

I applied a little lip balm, slipped a delicate bracelet on my wrist, and opened the drawer.

Time for the final touch — my most expensive lipstick.

I had two shades — one dewy red, one matte — both gifted by my sister from Dubai. Each cost around $2000 (don't worry, she got a discount).

Still.

I froze.

I think… dewy red will do tonight.

I spritzed on perfume again and parted my hair down the middle. The bouncy volume looked just right.

Yeah, I was officially slaying.

Just the lipstick was left — I picked it up and held it in my hand.

I'd ask Zafar before putting it on.

Hehe.
