Chapter 552 - Chapter 552: Endless Chatter and Argument

"What control device?" NaNa pressed.

"The controller for this game," Momo answered at once. "Without it, we can't leave this world."

"What did you say?!" NaNa yelped.

"How could that… you don't mean we have to stay here forever, do you?" Kotegawa Yui asked, stunned.

"Uh…" Momo glanced around, embarrassed, at a loss for words.

Which pretty much counted as admitting it.

"No way—!"

"It's okay, it's okay! I'll just make another controller, right?" Lala tried to comfort her.

"Oh, right, it was your invention…"

"Won't work, Big Sis," Momo sighed. "This world is virtual—there are no materials."

"Eh?" Lala froze too.

"What? Then we're… done for?" Yui stared, unwilling to believe it.

"Ahaha~ your faces are getting interesting," Kyoko said, enjoying herself far too much.

"You're still having fun at a time like this? This is all your fault!" NaNa snapped, glaring at her.

"Sorry~ sorry~ I didn't think the castle would crumble like that. What a flimsy demon castle, huh."

"Your firepower was too much!"

"How was I supposed to know you put the controller in the castle?"

"Well…"

"Alright, alright—what do we do now? We can't seriously live here forever, right? Shichen-nii, do you have a way?" Yui asked Shichen.

"I don't know either," Shichen said with a helpless shrug.

Of course he could get them out anytime, but he wasn't in a hurry. He was curious about everyone's reactions.

Frieren and Yami stayed calm; they knew what Shichen could do—no reason to worry. Even if they couldn't leave, they were following him anyway.

"No way… Shichen-nii doesn't have a way either…" Yui went pale.

"Hahaha~ what to do, what to do," Lala laughed lightly.

"Came all this way just to get stuck here forever…" NaNa began to panic.

"We should think ahead. If we're living here, we need to plan for the future. And since there's only one man—Brother-in-law…" Momo murmured, eyeing Shichen.

"Right—if Shichen-san's the only man, doesn't that mean we all have to marry him and have babies?" Kyoko said, suddenly enlightened.

"Why would you jump straight to marriage and babies?" NaNa barked.

"Well, if we're living here forever…"

"Maybe someone will come save us! If Father notices we're missing, he'll come get us!" NaNa seized on hope.

"He might 'notice' decades from now," Momo reminded her.

"Why?"

"You're forgetting—time here runs twenty-four times faster than reality. One day outside is almost a month in here."

"Th-that… noooo—" NaNa wailed.

"It's fine. We've at least got Brother-in-law."

"What's he got to do with this? Don't tell me we really have to marry him and have kids? No way—he's such a lech!"

"He's only a little lecherous~ it's fine."

"I said no!"

"Hey, hey! Even if you're Lala's sister, don't go that far," Shichen said, face darkening.

"You are lecherous! We saw it with our own eyes!"

"That's… not really my fault, is it? You designed Yui's outfit like that."

"W-what? You mean—you were watching me the whole way?" Kotegawa Yui finally put it together.

"We were monitoring what kind of people you are. Sorry," NaNa apologized.

"Wait—what about the inn?" Frieren couldn't help blurting.

"Of course… we saw everything. Brother-in-law's technique is impressive," Momo said, giving Shichen a thumbs-up.

"I'm ruined…" Frieren looked ready to ascend to the next life.

"It's okay, it's okay. They're girls—it's fine," Shichen tried, rubbing her head.

"It is not okay! I'm not Lala; I don't like being seen," Frieren slapped his hand away, annoyed.

In the past few days, Lala's true nature had shown—she'd run around naked after baths, totally unconcerned about being seen. She had the body to brag, sure, but still—freedom had limits.

"Hey~ Frieren, how can you say that?" Lala protested.

"Because it's true?"

"I'm just waiting for the water to dry."

"I almost believe you. You could just towel off. You just want Shichen to see you, don't you?"

"N-no, that's not it…" Lala denied, with very little conviction.

"Oh my~ Big Sis really loves Brother-in-law. I wonder how far they've gone…" Momo mused, cheeks in her hands, curiosity lighting her eyes.

"That perv has definitely done this and that to Big Sis…" NaNa fumed.

"'This and that'? And what exactly do you mean?" Momo teased.

"H-how should I know!"

"Do you even get it?"

"Stop treating me like a kid! I'm your older sister!"

"Are you?" Momo suddenly pushed her chest out, proudly—just a little smaller than Lala's.

"…" NaNa clenched her teeth. She was… a bit flat.

Twins. Same face, same height—so why was that so different? She never understood. Big Sis was big. She was… not. Utterly unfair.

"It's fine, you're still young. You'll grow," Shichen soothed.

"Really? I hope… Wait—why do you get to comfort me?!" NaNa snapped, blushing.

"I'm Lala's fiancé—your brother-in-law. Of course I can comfort you."

"I don't need comfort from a playboy!"

"Oh? Then I won't take you out."

"Who needs you to—huh? What did you say?" NaNa blinked at him.

"You want me to take you out?"

"Well, obviously."

"But you just said you couldn't earlier…"

"I was teasing you."

"Seriously?"

"See for yourself."

Shichen snapped his fingers. A shimmering portal irised open beside them—on the other side was the real world.

"No way…" NaNa gaped.

"As expected of Brother-in-law—you can even do that," Momo breathed, eyes sparkling.

"Aw~ looks like I don't get to play longer with Shichen in that world," Lala pouted.

"It's alright. Make a new one and we'll play again."

"Okay!"

"Let's go."

The portal drifted forward, swallowed them—and the scene flipped. They were back in Shichen's office.

"Thank goodness. I was scared to death," Kotegawa Yui exhaled.

"What, you don't want to stay there with me?" Shichen asked her.

"N-not the point…" Yui pursed her lips.

"Then what is?"

"Family would worry…"

"So you do want to stay with me."

"Mm… I didn't say that…"

"Nobody likes tsunderes anymore."

"I am not a tsundere!" she shot back, cheeks red.

"Alright, alright. You're not… You two—what's your plan?" Shichen asked the two little sisters.

"We…"

They glanced at each other, then shook their heads.

"You came without a plan?"

"Mhm. NaNa and I just wanted to see this planet," Momo said sheepishly.

"You hate coursework…"

"Haha~ hating homework is normal. Nothing to be embarrassed about," Shichen said.

"Really? Did Brother-in-law hate classes too?"

"Hated them a lot."

"Then why are you making me go to school…" Frieren muttered.

"I want you to experience what I experienced."

Frieren: "…"

"Since you two just got here, want to stay a couple of days?" Shichen offered.

"Eh? Can we?" Momo's eyes lit up.

"Why not? Lala will be happy."

"You're… not plotting anything?" NaNa eyed him suspiciously.

"What would I plot?" Shichen shot back.

"Maybe you… have designs on us…"

"Oh please. With that figure, who would have designs?" he said—sweet, petty revenge.

"…"

"Hahaha~ NaNa, did you hear? Brother-in-law says your figure is lacking. Time to face reality, hmm?"

"Enough already!"
