Friday finally saw the end of Tohka Yatogami's lengthy enrollment process—she was officially a student.
"Hello, everyone. My name is Tohka Yatogami. Starting today I'm transferring into this class and will be your classmate. I look forward to studying with you."
During homeroom, Tohka stood at the lectern in her Raizen High uniform and flashed a dazzling smile.
That smile was almost lethal—especially for the boys in this room. Just looking at her left them breathless, hearts racing, and minds blank.
It was an overwhelming, almost violent beauty.
"W‑whoa…!"
"She's gorgeous!"
"Isn't she the girl from the other day…?"
Excited murmurs rippled through the classroom. Many curious eyes also drifted to the calm boy standing beside her—Shichen.
Unfazed by the attention, Tohka picked up a piece of chalk and scrawled her name on the blackboard in wobbly strokes. Writing the two characters for "Toka" was already tricky—let alone the three for "Yatogami." Shichen had spent all of yesterday coaching her.
Satisfied, she nodded at the finished result.
Origami Tobiichi suddenly stood.
"Um… Shichen-sensei, is this the transfer student you mentioned might become our classmate?"
Shichen nodded with a smile.
"I'm impressed you remembered. Yes. From now on, Tohka will be in the same class. I hope you'll all get along."
"I have no intention of getting along with her!" Tohka shot back at once.
"Tohka… have you forgotten what you promised me yesterday?"
"But I think she… she seems up to no good!"
"How is Origami up to no good? You two are classmates now—try to get along."
"That's so unfair…"
"I don't mind," Origami said flatly.
"What did you say?" Tohka frowned at her.
With an expressionless face Origami continued, "I told you before—your presence doesn't bother me. I only need to serve Shichen-sensei."
"Shichen doesn't need your 'serving'!"
"That's not for you to decide. Can you make decisions for Shichen-sensei?"
"Of course I can!"
"And why is that?"
"Because our relationship advanced last night!" Tohka declared triumphantly.
"L‑last night…"
"You mean—"
Jealous whispers spread among the boys as they stared at Shichen.
Shichen forced a smile, walked over, and rapped Tohka lightly on the head.
"Ouch! Shichen, why'd you hit me?"
"What did I tell you last night? Did you already forget?"
"I didn't say anything specific!"
"And that makes it different—how?"
"Really?" Tohka blinked innocently.
"Sigh… Whatever. No more talking. And be nice to Origami."
"I refuse!"
"Then no sweet‑bean-pan for you."
"No way!"
"Your choice—pick one."
"Shichen, you're so cruel… Fine, I'll behave." Tohka pouted but relented.
"Good. Find a seat… Sit next to Origami."
"What? I have to sit with her?"
"How else will you learn to get along?"
Grumbling, Tohka slumped into the empty seat beside Origami—pointedly ignoring her new neighbor as if they'd had a fight already (which wasn't far from the truth).
Soft gossip filled the room again. Not only were the two prettiest girls now desk partners; their tangled ties to Shichen made for prime classroom drama: one male teacher, two girls, mutual jealousy—irresistible gossip fodder.
Origami gave her a calm sideways glance.
"Tohka, why did you transfer here?"
"How should I know? It's not my decision. And why are you calling me so familiarly? Fine—I'll call you Origami then!"
"Call me whatever you like. What exactly is your relationship with Shichen-sensei?"
"Why do you care?"
"Because it affects my decision."
"Huh?" Tohka blinked.
"If you two are already together, I'll have to coexist peacefully. But if you're not, I'll treat you as a rival," Origami explained.
"You're weird. Why can't we be peaceful even if I'm not with Shichen? Not that I'd be peaceful with you anyway!"
"I don't mind Shichen-sensei having both arms full, but I'd rather not share him if possible," Origami said calmly—yet shockingly.
Their voices weren't low; the entire class heard every word. Classmates stared wide‑eyed. They'd thought Origami was merely aloof—who knew her thoughts were this outrageous? And enviable!
"I don't want to share Shichen either!" Tohka declared loudly.
"Then what is your relationship with him?"
"Hmph! We're already—"
"Tohka!" Shichen cut her off just in time.
"She's provoking me!"
"Origami, don't tease Tohka. She's new—be nice, okay?"
"If you insist, Shichen-sensei… But I'm not teasing; I'm serious."
"Could you not discuss this at school? If the rumors get out and I'm fired, what then?"
"It would be troublesome if Shichen-sensei weren't here… Understood."
"Good. Tohka, you too. Behave and I'll cook something nice tonight."
"Fine… I'll try."
At this point Tama-chan chimed in: "Shichen-sensei, do you live with Miss Yatogami?"
"Well… yes—but my sister lives with us too."
"Oh, a younger sister… Just make sure you don't set a bad example," Tama-chan teased.
"I think there's been a misunderstanding, Tama-chan," Shichen began.
"No need to explain, Shichen-sensei—we get it!" a student interrupted.
"Exactly! Living together and nothing happening? That'd be stranger—unless you're not a man, sir!"
Shichen let out a cold laugh. "Since you're so sure, next week in PE I'd like to witness just how manly you are."
"Eh—seriously?"
"Are we getting punished?"
"Please don't—"
Ignoring the students' groans, Shichen gave Tohka and Origami a worried glance before leaving the classroom.
"Where's Shichen going?" Tohka asked.
"To the faculty office," Origami replied.
"He isn't teaching us?"
"Shichen-sensei is the PE teacher. He only teaches us during PE."
"Oh."
Origami eyed her curiously. "You don't know any of this? What's your background?"
"This is my first time in school," Tohka said cheerfully.
"Your first time? And before that?"
"Before… Wait, Shichen told me not to say." Realizing, Tohka clapped a hand over her mouth and glared warily at Origami. "You're scary—almost made me spill everything!"
"Maybe I don't need to treat you as an enemy after all," Origami muttered.
"What? Are you looking down on me?" Tohka rose angrily.
"Quiet—Okamine-sensei about to start class," Origami reminded her.
"Oh…" Tohka glanced at the teacher and sat obediently.
Tamae Okamine smiled at Tohka, then addressed the class about upcoming school events—typical homeroom fare.
Tohka soon grew bored, slumping over her desk. "So this is studying? Kinda dull."
"This isn't studying; next period is," Origami answered without looking away from the front.
"Really? Why isn't Shichen teaching? I'm bored without him."
"Don't tell me you enrolled just because of Shichen-sensei."
"That's right! I like being with Shichen—day or night, I want to be together."
"Night…? You're together at night too?"
"Sure. I sleep with Shichen," Tohka said casually.
Her voice was anything but quiet. The classroom fell silent—including Tamae Okamine. Every pair of eyes fixed on her.
"What's wrong?" Tohka looked around, puzzled.
"S‑sleep… together?"
"Every night?"
Gasps and whispers spread in amazement.
