Chapter 10 - Chapter 8 — He Doesn’t Knock

It became routine.

He waited at the school gates.

He made coffee in the morning like he'd done it all his life.

He left notes that were half helpful, half annoying.

I started laughing more.

One afternoon, I was in the shower when I heard the door open.

"Chase!" I shrieked.

"Relax," he said through the door. "Just grabbing my charger."

"You could've knocked!"

"I live here too, remember?"

I threw a towel at the door. He laughed.

That night, he left a note on my pillow:

Next time, lock the door. Or don't. Your call.

I didn't sleep much.
