Chapter 64 - They would never take her seriously again

Ophelia's head snapped toward him as she realized what they were trying to do.

"You dare bring that up now? When we are still struggling to reach a solution ourselves?" she asked with a sharp tone but it did not bother them.

The man chuckled, though it was dry and humorless. It was more of a mocking chuckle in an attempt to spite the blind girl.

"Why not? I simply wish to hear her perspective. Surely a woman so celebrated for her… insight," his eyes rolled with disdain. "...would have something to say. Unless, of course, her reputation is exaggerated?"

The words hung in the air like a gauntlet.

Lilah tilted her head, her unseeing eyes directed toward his voice.

"If the matter is of such weight, then please, share it. Even if I cannot solve it, perhaps a different view may help."

Another advisor muttered, "Different, indeed."

Ophelia bristled, but Lilah only folded her hands calmly in her lap, waiting.
