True to his word, Kain took the longer route home.

The evening breeze chimed past Nova's ears, a soothing melody against the hum of the engine as she sank deeper into the premium leather seat. The bittersweet taste of dark fudge and rich hazelnut still lingered pleasantly on her tongue, a stark contrast to the bitter encounter they had just left behind. The chocolate plaza experience had undoubtedly been the most exquisite culinary delight she had ever tasted—surpassing even Lena's famous almond treats from the outskirts.

"Thank you so much, Kain," she murmured softly. Shifting in her seat, she leaned sideways, resting her head against his solid shoulder as he drove. A profound sense of safety washed over her, wrapping around her bruised heart like a warm blanket.

Kain briefly tore his gaze away from the winding road, leaning down to press a tender kiss to the crown of her head. "Don't mention it, milady. I enjoyed the date simply because you were by my side."
